Isoflex is a brand of industrial and scientific adhesives, sealants and lubricants. The company was founded in 1947 and has since grown to be one of the world's leading suppliers of adhesives, sealants and lubricants. Isoflex is headquartered in Vernon Hills, Illinois, USA. Isoflex began as a small company specializing in developing "liquid rubber" adhesives. This liquid rubber was created by mixing hide glue with coal tar pitch. The coal tar pitch allowed for the liquid rubber to remain fluid at low temperatures. This liquid rubber was used to develop composite aircraft materials for US Air Force planes during World War II. Isoflex continued its research into new rubber adhesive material during the post-war years, eventually introducing vulcanizing agents to be mixed with their liquid rubber to create stronger adhesives. The company also developed its own line of sealants, which were used on structural metal surfaces, as well as their own heavy-duty hydraulic-lubricant. As the company continued to grow, Isoflex developed their own line of adhesives, sealants and lubricants for use in both industrial and scientific applications. Today, Isoflex's products are sold all over the world.
