Green Mountain Coffee is a coffee roaster and retailer headquartered in Waterbury, Vermont, United States. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Keurig Dr Pepper. The company sells coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and other beverages online and in stores under the Green Mountain Coffee and Keurig brands. The company was founded in 1981 by Bob Stiller and has been a public company since 1993. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters went public on NASDAQ with an initial public offering in 1993. In 2006, the company completed a $104 million secondary public offering. The transaction resulted in the sale of 3.6 million common shares by certain selling shareholders and the company receiving $88.8 million of net proceeds. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters was acquired by Keurig Dr Pepper in 2016 for $13.9 billion. The acquisition created a publicly traded company with a portfolio of iconic beverage brands. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has a long history of environmental and social responsibility. The company was one of the first to offer Fair Trade CertifiedTM coffees and has been working with farmers to improve coffee quality and yield for more than 25 years. It was also one of the first companies to offer 100% recycled and recyclable K-Cup® pods.
