It had gotten so bad one could hardly see the fish! (sorry I didn't take a before photo..) I hooked this device inline with my Fluval filter (did have to get a new hose and connectors) but once turned on, it took only 24 hours to start seeing a difference! The bacteria bloom is almost gone; I'm hoping the dino's start disappearing soon. You can offset some water maintenance by increased biological filtration, but water changes are just mandatory. Don't let the extreme clarity of the water from this UV fool you..
