As very much a novice with a sewing machine I did manage to miss use it at the start and put it at the front of the foot thinking it would work like a bit of a sledge, it doesn't and I managed to put the needle straight through it as it chewed it up and made a mess of the stitching. However a quick search on the internet and I found out how to use it. Just lift the foot up when you get to a bulky seams, place this in behind and drop the foot down and it will easily pop you over and then it falls out once you have cleared it. Easy! It comes with two ends that are of different thickness so should cover all needs. It is built well for being just a lump of plastic and is thick and thin where it needs to be. As I said I did manage to sew the needle right through the middle part but this was definitely user error but they might have preempted this and the plastic is thinner in the middle. I now have a nice little hole in mine but the needle didn't snap. I would definitely recommend having one as it just makes sewing life a lot easier, just don't be as daft as I was and put it at the front of the foot! It is designed for plain hems using a straight stitch. the 2 different thicknesses on each end are for different thicknesses of fabric. I do not use it with my serger or embroidery machine, just with my everyday machine on straight stitch. **Q: Is it plastic or metal?** A: It is made of a strong plastic. Not used much but useful when did levels foot to height of material that is bulky. **Q: Can this be used with industrial sewing machines** A: We cannot see why this would not be usable, to ensure, we would suggest you check your sewing machine manual - Minerva **Q: Can it be used with a Bernina sewing machine?** A: I don’t have a Bernini but having attempted to use it in at least 5 other brands my personal experience leads me to conclude it doesn’t actually work on any machine.
