Welded them to a plate that bolts to the side of the trailer. Also added a tab to the clamp and one to the plate for a padlock. (Also painted them black to match trailer so don't let that throw you - they come silver / zinc plated.) Worked perfect. These are quality items. Saw others similar but negative reviews kept me away. These do not, for example, fall apart when you remove the red plastic handle cover. The two main arms of the clamp are spot-welded so they don't come apart. Really pleased with results.
