Review: I had the wrong paint, my fault. - I took a long shot on this one hoping I could distress some tiles I painted with a copper paint. It worked to a point but not enough. I think you need paint with enough metal particles that aren’t covered with the varnish within the paint for it to work. Fortunately I tested it off the wall. So, check the composition of your paint if you don’t want to wing it!

**Q: Is the 'Rust Activator' the same as the green (copper) and blue (bronze) activators?**
A: No. One is for Rust and the other is for green or blue, depending on which paint you use as a base coat. There are three base paints and two activators.

**Q: Will this work on my powder coated galvanized mail box?**
A: Use a self etching primer first. Then it will bond the the powder coating.

**Q: This wont work on new metal roofing thats not painte would it ?**
A: I believe it well work. Purchase a smaller quantity and test it first. I use it to get a rust effect on modern masters metal effects paint that has actual ground metal in it.

**Q: Can I use this on corrugated metal panels from Home Depot to get a rusty look?**
A: As long as you use the iron paint first, you can virtually rust any material.  I’ve used it on wood, glass, ceramics and metal.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What else in my home needs a charming rusty finish?

So now I'm currently looking around my apartment for more things to rust! This paint is amazing! My only problem with it is the rust is very very VERY orange. Normally, when things rust, there are some variations in the color, but when you use this precise a product, you don't get that. I've started using a little bit of the bronze paint dry brushed on to the iron paint, as that seems to tone the orange down and make the rust look a little more authentic. The bronze darkens the orange and makes it a little less *luminous.* I pour a little of the rust activator in a paper cup and brush/daub it on. I haven't sprayed it yet, but the liquid is very runny (as thin as water) and I wouldn't advise spraying it unless you have a flat surface (or you like streaks in your rust). Whatever you do, however, don't dip the brush you're using to apply the rust activator back into the bottle. You'll get metal in it and the whole bottle will discolor. You need the primer with these paints, so don't think you can skip it (I usually do, but I'm glad I didn't). These modern masters rust/patina paints are fantastic fun, and they do exactly what they advertise, as long as you follow the directions.
