Can I hear a heart beat?** A: After buying one and reading reviews, here's what happens: it is a 2 directional stethoscope. The sound is not super loud, but it is there. The piece you place to listen can be twisted to change which direction you can listen from. If it's twisted the wrong way, you will hear nothing. **Q: Does this look real? Is it adult size? I need stethoscopes for a movie prop. Would these work?** A: It is real and adult sized. Would be perfect for a prop. **Q: Are these toys or real?** A: They are real, not the quality a medical professional would want to use all day, but great for teaching kids about their bodies or to put in your home medical kit. If you’ve never used a stethoscope give yourself a 10 minute lesson on you tube so you know how to properly adjust and use them. Both the ear pieces and the diaphragm need to be properly adjusted for good results. Review are confusing because it has high stars, but is due to parents who purchased it as a toy. The ones who convinced me to get it was one whelp said they were a medical student. I know no good professor would tale.this seriously so I am worried if any nurse student is using these. I wanted it to monitor my dogs heart as he has a heart murmur and gets syncope episodes. I need to see if his heart rate is dropping or increasing during that episode. Also to see if the meds are doing their job. However this apparatus has tons of interference and if you use it like you should, no one has a heart beat. But you can hear all other sounds so its good if you want to hear gossip. If you use it backwards and put the metal part on the heart, then you can faintly hear something. On my dog with the murmur it is better as his heart beat is very loud, however there is too much interference to keep me concentrated and I need to count his heart beats per minute. My nephews, 3 and 6 year olds are having a blast pretending they can hear hearts. Save your money. This is not even good to measure Blood pressure.
