He sleeps in the smallest bedroom and I wanted a bed to fit along the shortest wall to maximise floor space (for train tracks and things!). Originally we talked about building a bed ourselves but at 7months pregnant this was no longer practical so we turned to Strictly Beds and Bunks Ltd and I’m SO glad we did! The bed arrived quickly, much quicker than I anticipated. There was an issue with delivery of the bed frame which was however no fault of the company who very swiftly rectified the issue. The bed frame itself is solid, with lovely rounded edges on the corners- perfect for limiting the damage from those toddler tantrums! It was simple enough to put together. The only issues we had were that the instructions were so clear with helpful details and tips that as long-suffering self-assembly semi-professionals, we ended up confusing ourselves!! The mattress supplied with it is more than adequate enough for a child, perhaps a little spring-lumpy for a larger adult but my pregnant-self had no issues when I curled up in it with him to read our bedtime story! The only thing of note is that the mattress smelled a little like a hamster cage upon opening but an afternoon of airing out in the garden soon got rid of that, just be aware! Our plan all along was to paint the bed white to match his decor and it looks stunning! My little man jumped straight into it, absolutely delighted with his proper big boy bed! Unfortunately the holes for bolts and so on haven't been very carefully measured, meaning I had to drill a couple of extra myself when the existing ones didn't line up, which added a lot of time and effort to the assembly process. In addition the mattress supplied is of very poor quality, so overall I don't feel like I got very good value for money.
