The case actually had metal latches and hinges to shut the plastic case. The crimper was clean and worked as expected. It is of high quality. But a few areas need improvements. A simple label on the dial would show the current position of the pressure release valve knob. Also noticed that one of the dies had a loose pin (the pin is just threaded into the die). I purchased this because my bolt cutter style crimps are too large for many boat engine compartments. I investigated this problem prior to purchase. trial and error is the only way. As I discovered with my old crimpers, it also depends on weather you use thin wall or heavy wall lugs. I didn't expect this to make factory looking crimps because my $250.00 crimps don't either without some extra effort. The dies in this kit are metric. AWG stranded wire is a little different than solid wire which AWG was actually developed for. I think large stranded cable is different diameter than small stranded cable of the same gauge. **Q: do you have 10awg die for this tool th0006** A: Mine had 2,3,4,8,9.12 Ga labeled dies. **Q: Is there B-crimp dies for this?** A: Not with the kit as shown, they may possibly be available from the manufacturer at extra cost, you would have to inquire to Temco directly to find out. All of the stock dies are straight barrel compression with no center dimples. Which have handled everything I've ever thrown at them without any failures. Any cables I make that are subject to extreme vibration or possible thermal strain I silversolder and vulcanize covers for. **Q: Can I use it for 1/8 inch cable rail crimping (Muzata hardware)?** A: I would have to look at mine but I believe it would. 1/8" cable is like 12 awg and I know there's a crimp in there for that. Great value for the money and it works well. *by C***S on August 3, 2018* This tool is neither the cheapest or most expensive of its kind but I find it hits the sweet spot as far as price and performance. My SIL and I have just converted a sprinter van to a motor home and had to do quite a bit of crimping. I have also used it to run heavy wiring on Jeeps. A bench mounted crimper would be easier to use but I find its size works well when we have to use it in a vehicle where the wires are already run or where it would be troublesome to remove them. The dies are clearly marked with the size and I have not had any problems getting a food crimp on the lugs or butt connectors I have used (Seltrim and Temco). The dies are held in place magnetically. As I am not usually in a rush I insert the lug or connector in the tool, squeeze the handles until the lug is held in place, insert the wire and squeeze again until the wire is firmly held in place, release pressure and rotate the lug or connector 90 degrees, squeeze until the dies touch, release pressure and rotate the lug or connector back 90 degrees and crimp again until the dies touch again. Using this method there are no extrusion to the outside and we have not had a failure.
