Review: Great backpacking companion - I bought this book in preparation for my four-day backpacking trip in the Uintah mountains with a friend. It was super useful in helping me plan out our trip and in deciding which peaks to climb and which trails to take. The trail descriptions by the author are also very detailed and useful for getting a little preview of the difficulty. Although I had my own USGS map, I also took copies of the trail maps from the book, and they were very helpful on the trail, in fact I used them more than I used my USGS map. We took the Swift Creek trail, and we ended up hiking to the top of Ramp Peak, which is just above 13,000 feet. It was a fantastic trip, and this book really made it better.
