Review: The best door pullup bar I've used - POSITIVES: This pullup bar is exactly what you want if you have a low door frame height, or are taller. The second, elevated bar, adds about 9" of height compared to standard door frame bars. The top bar ends up about 4" higher than the bottom of the door frame. Sturdy enough to handle kipping. I occasionally do kipping pullups and the bar has no problem with this dynamic type of movement, although I'm not as aggressive as I would be on a solid fixed bar. NEGATIVES: This is typical of all inexpensive pullup bars, but the station feels a bit flimsy when assembled and installed. While secure, the bar has a bit of side to side wobble or shake, due to the bolts used, and the construction. I've used this bar multiple times a week for about 6 months, and it is still just as solid as when I bought it. Coming from a single piece construction pullup bar, the bar movement was troubling to me at first. The bars will mark the doorframe slightly when they make contact. In my previous apartment, slight red marks were evident where the bars made contact with the door frame. In my current installation, the black door frame pads have left Quarter sized marks on the door frame that will have to be repainted. ---------------- 6 Month Update: I've used this pullup bar multiple times per week for the past six months. It has held up great despite using it for strict and kipping pullups, and hanging gymnastic rings from the bars. I checked the bolts and they haven't loosened. Based on the performance so far, I expect to get many more years out of this product. ---------------- 12 Month Update: The bar is still working great but I've begun to wear through the left hand foam grip pad. There is a large hole and I am mostly gripping bare metal now. I've used the product for 2-3 workouts per week for 1 year. So far I have been able to rotate the grip around and use the underside but it is only a matter of time until it wears away completely.
Review: sturdy - I bought this particular one because I have wider than normal doorways and this was the longest that I could find on desertcart. The bar only grips about and inch and a half of wall on either side, so no other bar would have fit. The fact that the bar sticks out and higher than other bars was also a selling point because I am six foot five, so it's nice to do a pull up and my knees not touch the floor. It has a standard amount of grips and the angled grip in the center lets you grab the bar naturally. The adjustable height was also key for me because of the door frame, there is limited space above the lip of the frame so I'm only able to put the bar on the highest setting. Again, I was afraid that I would not find a decent bar because of the size of my doorway, so I thought this would be the best out of a few choices. I was rather pleased with the quality of the bars. I range between 240-250 lbs and I feel completely secure on this thing. I've used many different bars but I feel that this one has supported my weight the best. Now, it's not perfect. Like many others I did have an issue installing the nuts and screws. I didn't have to drill any extra holes or file screws down but I did have to double up on the elbow grease in order to make it work. One of the caps on the nut popped off as I was tightening a screw but it didn't affect anything else. The foam that grips the doorway completely ate through the paint on the doorframe, luckily my frame is metal so it just needs to be painted over. I would suggest wrapping some hand towels around the bar to ensure little friction. The only other negative, which is probably the biggest one, is that the bars that run vertically have somehow twisted on me. It's on a pivot, it's just twisted. Due to the weak plastic that secures the back of the bar over the doorframe, the screws are not strong enough to hold the attached bars in place and somehow the vertical bars have twisted and although the horizontal bars are still very usable and intact, the setup is no longer symmetrical. I did fear that this would mean the end, but it stands strong. I've had this thing for four months now. It still holds my weight with no problem. It has no sign of deterioration. The foam did eat away and my wall was slightly abused, but I knew that pull up bars did that to doorframes so I should have prepared accordingly. The difficulties with assembly were not a major issue for me, I still think the price was good. Although my bar twisted on me, I can still use it with no problem. Now, it may not last as long because of it but, I believe it'll still give me a good run. This was my choice out of limited options that would fit my needs, so although this may not have been my first choice I am very pleased. It's not perfect, but it's strong and the price is right. **UPDATE 6/23/14 : Over two years with the product and it finally gave out on me. I was generally pleased. My only gripe is the plastic that is used for the back piece. That is what allowed the other parts to twist, and that is what broke. Still, I will buy again and hope that it was just a fluke. **UPDATE 8/2/17 : About 3 years with a different one than the first and it holds strong, carrying my 6'5" and 250 lbs with no problem. ***UPDATE 12/19/24 : The leverage bar in the back broke today. Might just try to replace that part, if not, I will definitely get a new one.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Go Fit Pull Up Bar
*by G***E on March 9, 2010*

So after doing some research on what pullup bar would be the best for me I came across this bar. It is elevated so you are far away from the door when doing pullups, seemed to be made of high quality metals and seemed overall the sturdiest most well thought out pull up bar.Upon receiving this pull up bar, I discovered that most of these things were true, it is a sturdy steel product, the tubes are not weak at all, but very strong. The craftsmanship of the product itself seems spot on, especially compared to some other door mount pull up bars I have seen. The product was well packaged and seemed brand new. After unpacking it and starting to assemble it I ran into a few problems. First off, I noticed that the sealed bag containing the screws and hardware was missing one of the 2 small philips head screws used to mount the 2 peice straight bar and the 2 peice curved bar together. Overall this isnt a huge problem, and judging from how those bars are mounted to the curved frame bars on the sides I didn't think it would even matter that it was missing. Either way I had to go to work so I left it to be constructed later. While at work (I work at lowe's, I found a very similar screw that was left over from a cabinet we were assembling, and lowe and behold!(no pun intended :]) It fit into the bar fairly well, holding my straight bar very sturdily together. Now the next problem in the construction, For some reason the screw holes that line up with the curved bars and the straight bar (where the eye loop screws go through) were not drilled perfectly even. I was eventually after much trying to force both screws through the misaligned holes forced to unscrew the straight bar(and in the process, stripping the hole out a bit) and then attaching both peices of the straight bar to the curved frame separately and then securing the straight bar together with my replacement screw. This stripped out the hole of the screw a bit, but it still seems very sturdy. The rest of the setup went without flaws and the pullup bar feels very sturdy once assembled.I tried it on most of my indoor doors, but as this old house has the ceiling perhaps 1/4 inch from the top of the doorjam, it would not fit on any of them. Which is not the products fault at all, but more the ancient design flaws of my mid 70's house. Eventually I found one spot that i could use it with some slight modification. I ended up opening just one of my double arcadia doors leading to the backyard, and am able to secure it through the open door to the frame on one side and the other closed door on the other side. The door is slightly recessed from the wall which makes it very unstable, but I found that if i stuff a book into the space between the door and the straight support bar, it holds up very well, and I am able to perform pullups without problems. As for the function of the bar itself, seems to work great, solid construction, havent noticed any scuffs on the door, although it does creek a bit when I pull up on it(the door that is, not the bar, which is solid),it doesnt bother me. It has several different hand mounts for wide grip, closer grip and chin ups.Overall I am pleased with this product and would recommend it to others. However I am going to detract 1 star for the missing screw/misaligned holes. And one tip if you do buy this pull up bar, I recommend securing the straight bar to the 2 peices of the frame BEFORE you secure the two halves of the straight bar together with a screw. Even though the straight bar step comes first in the instructions. It definitely made the installation much more painless and I wish I had thought of it before I stripped out that middle screw a bit. No biggie.Cheers
