## Description

18 inch diameter plastic kit of the famed Jupiter 2 from Lost in Space. Extremely detailed interior, can be built with landing gear up or down. 1/35 scale, needs paint and glue for final assembly. Experienced modelers only!

Review: The Jupiter 2 has Finally Landed - My LOST IN SPACE Jupiter 2 model arrived yesterday. The level of detail is amazing. This is no simple slap-it-together modeling kit. I opened the box and laid the model part sections on the floor to get a better idea as to a strategy in assembling this work of art. The directions and accompanying information sheet are largely in color and provide exacting information as to how the assemblies should be painted. Included in the instructions is a hefty list of the recommended paints. Looks like I will have to plan a stop at a hobby store. Producing this kit must have been a labor of love. The quality is such that the finished spacecraft will likely surpass any of the special effects models used during the filming of the original series. In all honesty if I had this kit when I was eight years old I would have completed it two hours after opening the box - though it would not have been painted and would likely have fingerprint glue smears all over. However, more than four decades later, I intend to take my time with this project. The top and bottom saucers are complete sections. In toying around with the kit I provisionally placed one on top of the other and instantly had the familiar Jupiter 2 shape. The kit includes materials to complete the interior flight deck level of the Jupiter 2 along with the landing gear. This is truly a quality kit. When LOST IN SPACE was still in first-run prime time I longed for a toy model of the Jupiter 2. Alas, there were none to be found. Our neighbors had a Lost in Space play set with two large white Styrofoam "woks" that together were supposed to be the Jupiter 2, but in reality looked nothing like the Irwin Allen spacecraft. I constructed various versions of the Jupiter 2 using stapled white paper plates and taped up construction paper. It would take a lot of imagination to believe that those attempts were anything close to the Jupiter ship. The television Jupiter 2 went through several modifications during the series' three year run. The Jupiter 2 was originally named Gemini 12 in the unaired pilot. The Gemini 12 did not have a second living quarters deck. As a result the original Jupiter 2 special effects footage - recycled throughout the series - displayed a thinner version of the ship than appeared in other clips. One wonders where the Robinsons found room to store the Chariot. In Season Three the Pod bay was also added, though it is likewise debatable if the spacial limitations of the Jupiter could accommodate a shuttle craft. Remember too Irwin Allen's VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA belatedly added a bay for the Flying Sub. Season Three of LOST IN SPACE also featured an episode where the Jupiter boasted yet a third reactor core deck. This one time third floor is not reflected in this modeling kit. This kit is representative of the Season Three Jupiter 2 complete with an impression of the Pod bay doors. I am sure this kit will take me some time to assemble, but it was worth the 40-year wait.
Review: This kit is a moderate level to assemble. Lots of pieces. - This model kit is very detailed. Its an amazing model kit for a huge fan like myself. Yes, this kit is one you will enjoy putting together. Only thing i wish it had was a lower level but the manufacturer said there was just not enough room. And i also wished they had designed the main hatch door so it could be opened. You do have to cut out and that takes alot of time and its super hard to do. But all in all a super kit worth every penny you pay. Its packaged very carefully inside so that no damage can come to the hull surface.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: are there any modelsl assemble already? of the jupiter 2**
A: Not that I know of for this particular kit -- unless a private seller has assembled one and is putting it up for sale. About a decade ago there was an assembled Jupiter 2 set complete with a couple action figures that originally sold for $19.99, but is now sometimes found in the Marketplace for $200 to $400. I have not even started building my kit yet.

**Q: Does this kit come with any decals**
A: I believe that it does have decals included but I have not even opened it yet because I have been looking for the lighting kit for it. There are after market decal kits and lazer etched parts and a lighting kit if you can find one. Look it up on youtube people have done some great things with this kit

**Q: Does this come with the robot b9?**
A: Hello,
I have the Jupiter 2 model. It does not come with the B9 Robot. However, the Chariot kit does come with the B9 Robot. And it appears to be in the correct scale for the space ship.

**Q: how many parts in kit?**
A: It had all the part in it thank u

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ AWSOME MODEL !
*by P***R on September 8, 2018*

Great detail . if you decide to build this one than you need to take the time to paint ! I also bought the expensive set of decals which helped save time. Now I am adding electronics to it as I have always made my models with lights. I have a background in electronics so I build my own circuit boards. But you can find if you look pre made light kits for this model, the chaser lights for the fusion core will run you about $98.00 or there is a complete lighting kit for this model just under $200.00. (Some of it you can find on Amazon...) I am still working on it installing fiber optics and building the fusion core from scratch , I will add photos later...
