I saw this set at a department store when I was engaged in 1974, the year the Holiday pattern first came out. I was delighted to think about having a set of dishes just for the season and almost added it to my registry but I wanted to collect a full set of everyday Franciscan stoneware before thinking about Christmas-only dishes. Doing my Amazon Christmas shopping this year, I noticed it on sale and remembered my wish as a bride-to-be all those years ago. When my husband asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I showed him the dishes saying, "I've cooked Christmas Eve or Christmas Day dinner for 50 years now, and I'd like to serve this year's meal on special dishes." Sold. We bought 2 sets, one for us and one for our daughter, so we'd have enough combined to serve our extended family. It's nice to choose a classic pattern from Lenox knowing we can add serving pieces in the same pattern each year when Christmas comes around. I was surprised it was dishwasher safe and not surprised it's not microwave safe because of the real gold accents. The packaging was excellent and everything arrived in pristine condition. There is the Lenox lifetime guarantee if you should chip one--who does that anymore?!
