However, the fact that I'm using an external monitor with a non-Apple adapter has been brought into question as a possible problem. So, I've had my external monitor disconnected for two days now and no additional crashes. However, I also going to leave it disconnected for another week to see what transpires in the interim. If I experience any new crashes (screen goes black, iMac reboots), then I'll agree that it wasn't this adapter causing it. However, If I plug it back in and it crashes even once, that's a pretty good indicator that the adapter is suspect.
