I chose to keep my cooling, system simple and effective. If my motor is running the fan is running. It does make noise but if your vehicle has insulation it would be less noticeable. My truck never goes above 195 degrees since I installed the electric fan. I have a second fan as a spare, in case this one were to die. It would be an easy replacement as I used an universal aluminum shroud, welded the 4 mounting bolts to the shroud after installing them with the fan. Undo 4 nuts put the new fan, put the nuts on, acorn the 2 wires until I got home and could do a proper electrical connection. **Q: 3 3/16 inch or 3.9 inch?** A: Definitely not 3 3/16 had to make mods to fit it on my 65 mustang.
