I pulled the part that he put in the trash out and it was this capacitor. It looked like a very simple install so I ordered one of these for $26 and put it away. Yesterday my AC wouldn't start. The thermostat was fine but I replaced the batteries anyway and the outdoor wiring looked good. The wire connections looked clean and snug. I replaced the 21 year old capacitor with the backup I purchased 21 years ago and my AC was fixed in 45 minutes. The Chinese junk on Amazon will not last at all.
