I thought is may have been because of some pencils I order from Amazon that wound up coming from Asia and the wood was sooo hard. So the second one I purchased, I could only sharpen the Prismacolor pencils...all the others just wear down the batteries because it is so hard to sharpen any of them. Very disappointed in this product. I would like to find a sharpener that "plugs in" electrically, not battery operated, which is what I thought I was getting with this one. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great. My 7 year old has *by N***7 on January 24, 2017* Works great. My 7 year old has, strangely, been begging for a sharpener for months. I decided to get it for her for christmas (what child doesn't want a pencel sharpener for christmas? lol) and let me tell you, she's really put that thing through the ringer. She's sharpened all of her colored pencils, and her sister's, at least 4 packs of pencils, and every single unsharpened pencil she could find in the house. And the blade is still going strong! I I haven't had to change the batteries as of yet, either. The compartment with pencil shavings opens easily too. It works, and it works just fine. It isn't super fast, but it certainly sharpens the pencils well. I could feel / listen to know when the tip was just right. When I put the first pencil in, I thought it was going to bog down, but that didn't happen and I happily sharpened all my colored pencils in a short amount of time.I needed a magnifying glass to read the instructions...mostly I just needed to be sure I was removing the front piece correctly.
