Very strong as advertised. Here's how I installed it - one man job. I dug a hole to the proper depth plus 6 inches. I filled the hole with 3 inches of crushed stone bought at the hardware store. I also bought a white plastic pipe fitting that fit inside the 2 3/4" inner diameter of the pipe. I drilled holes in the base of the plastic piece to let water escape. That allowed the pipe to stand on its own, making it unnecessary to build something to hold the pipe upright. By adjusting the stones, I used a level to make sure the pipe was plumb. Then I used quick set cement from the hardware The pole was tight in 5 minutes as advertised. I then made a 11" x 22" form, leveled that and used high strength cement to build a cement base around the base of the pole. Any fool that wants to use their car to hit this post will have some bumper damage in return.The pad I made will eliminate any need to trim grass around the post. My riding mower now clears the mailbox easily. Finally I attached the mailbox and the decorative pieces around the base of the pole. I changed all the hardware and used stainless instead. for the base, I used special screws that require an Allen wrench (vs the Phillips provided)to slow anyone down who wants to make off with the decorative pieces. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very High Quality; A Minor Glitch *by M***E on November 28, 2017* The manufacturing quality and paint coating of the post, mount plate and decorative base are first class. The quality of the decorative base aluminum casting is quite impressive. All the parts have a very nice semigloss black finish, and there were no blemishes on exterior surfaces. As mentioned by others, the post seemed to be on the short side and in order to meet the USPS mailbox height requirement, and only about 12 inches of the post extended into the ground. But this seems to be sufficient for the quickset concrete I used to fill the hole around the post. The post and mounting plate are very rigid and my standard mailbox does not wobble or flex in its mounting. The only problem: 4 screws used to join the two halves of the decorative base were too long and bottomed out in the threaded holes before the halves fully pulled together. I bought shorter screws at the hardware store (1/2" vs supplied 3/4") and all was well. Nevertheless, I posted 5 stars due to the good design and quality of everything else. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Two things happened *by T***R on June 2, 2025* 1. It was challenging on the post length. It's 53.5" and not long enough. This should be 65" long. You need 41" from the bottom of your mailbox to the ground, then you have 12.5" of post. The post should be bury 24". I used 12" circular cardboard (12" deep) and mixed the cement.2. The four short screws were too big and did not fit the post cover. I had to go to the hardware store to get the right size. Other than that, it's all good!I'm only taking off 1 star for all that, I love it! Great quality.
