When I visit my daughter in Australia I always make sure I buy her monthly magazine that is issued over there as it is just full of the most lovely stuff. The first section in this book is Chocolate and I just drooled over the pages - chocolate and maple banana cake, white chocolate and amaretti cake. Fig and chocolate truffles (I am making these for Christmas) there are so many imaginative recipes and the instructions are simple and uncomplicated and accompanied by beautiful photographs. There are quick and easy recipes here as well and the feeling is that this is a book which can be used by most competant bakers and cooks. It is not high brow or pretentious in any way. All recipes are, as in all cook books these days, given in metric and no imperial measures and I always find this sightly irritating. But that is my only criticism of a beautiful book. I dislike the word ‘accessible’ as i think it is over used but everything in this book is. A treat to read even if you never cook anything from it!
