After researching multi-vitamins, both the pros and the cons, I've determined that there's a greater probability that they will help my health than harm it. So, if I could find an affordable multi-vitamin that also has good efficacy, I was game. My research led me to Centrum Silver. Why Centrum Silver for Men? Do a search for "Centrum Silver Research" and you'll see recent articles that say that Centrum Silver was linked to an 8% reduction of cancer risk for men. That's hardly a huge benefit -- unless you are the one who didn't get cancer because you were taking a multi-vitamin! Do another search for "best multi-vitamin for men" on the Men's Health magazine website, and you'll find that this young man's magazine actually lists Centrum Silver (made for men 50+) as a top multi-vitamin choice. Overall, Centrum Silver for Men (gotta get that lycopene some way for your you-know-what) seems like a good choice. Now, compare its cost with the premium multi-vitamins that are available, and you'll have to decide whether you want to spend ten cents a day or a whole lot more than that (to get a bunch of vitamins and minerals that you should be getting anyway if you ate the way you know you're supposed to eat). For me, I'll happily spend ten cents a day and hope for the best than spend 50 cents or more a day for a different multi-vitamin (and still l'll just be hoping for the best).
Review: Low potency... As it should be. - Until recently the only criteria I used when buying vitamins was potency. I made it a point to buy the highest potency I could get my hands on. To me, if 400 Mg of something is good, 1600 was 4x better. My obsession with potency was pretty extreme. Not only did I buy the highest potency I could find, but I took dozens of supplements each day, often overlapping the ingredients with other supplements. This changed when I saw my doctor and handed him a long list of supplements I was taking and I asked him to circle the ones I should keep taking, and cross out the ones I should stop. To my surprise, he circled only one, a multi-vitamin, and Tumeric and he made it a point of saying I shouldn't take high dosages of either. The point he made was that unless your bloodwork shows that your are deficient in some key nutrients you are not only wasting money on supplements, but potentially harming your body, especially your stomach, kidneys and liver. Considering I was there for stomach problems, I took his advice. I threw out dozens of bottles of supplements and started taking Centrum Silver because it's just right. Not too much of anything. The pill size is decent, although it's a bit thick.

A: My thought is that Silver indicates second best.  No iron is included in the mens version.  The womens 50+ version supplies 44% of the iron MDR.  Maybe Centrum will rename it Centrum Gold.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A good choice

has the requisite amount of vit C. Since you can't store it, you need 100 mg / day. same with Vitamin A -- who wants macular degernation ! Magnesium -- there's not enough in this, so I also take a low-does magnesium pill. Magnesium is really important for proper body functioning. No one gets enough - you need like 2-3 cups of vegetables a day. Hence: the pills. Vit. D -- same business -- you need more than Centrum Silver Men provides. So I take a low-dows Vit D pill as well. I figure--- this Centrum is close enough to what I want..and I'm worried if i look and look and find something with enough D and Magnesium....will I get MORE of the other stuff than I want? Probably...so I supplement with a little extra Vt D and Magnesium and I'm good to go. The pill is easy enough to swallow, and seems to have little flavor. (I've had it one...quickly...but it seemed fine). AFAIC, I'm good to go. Centrum Silver Men - recommended.
