Review: Best value throwing knife - These are a great knife for any beginner to learn with and I highly recommend them. They are very durable and everything you would expect from a design by Gil Hibben - legendary knife thrower. They are made in China, however, both sets I purchased have the look and feel of a superior quality product not typically seen in mass-produced knives. This is likely the best balance of value and performance for similar products. Three knives fit into the provided sheath if you slightly un-sheath them to add the 3rd. I found this to be an amazing feature because I don't like snaps and having all (3) blades in the sheath allowed the sheath to retain them well enough to jog without a snap. The blades are ready to throw right out of the box i.e.) not sharp and almost dull from the factory which is desirable if you are throwing knives for practice while holding the blade side. If you purchase other throwing knives with a sharpened blade you may need to dull the blades for your own safety before throwing them while holding the sharp end. The knives have a solid feel, good weight and are well balanced. I was able to stick them into a soft wood-round (grain end) target on the point and handle side with a hard throw. Today I conducted a durability test. From 2 meters I threw blades into each other in an attempt to cause blade-on-blade damage. The first blade was thrown into the target and the second was thrown to collide with the first. The force caused a potentially dangerous rebound of the 2nd blade. The blade damage was minimal. I repeated this test with a second pair of blades and found the metal used would dent and burr but would not chip, crack or break from the impact. The tip of the knife which received metal-to-metal contact was slightly flattened at the point with a very small burr on the side of the blade. The other knife contacted blade-to-blade and left a very small dent and burr on each blade. There were no visible cracks and the blades were thrown for about 20 more minutes after the impact. When I was done training I corrected the burrs with a small metal file to prevent the metal from potentially scratching my hand during use. PRO: Good balance, not sharp, very durable, good sheath CON: Mass produced *both of my sets feel like superior quality products which is not typical in mass produced blades
Review: because some of the reviews did state they were poor quality, so I did not want to waste ... - I work for the CT RenFaire as a dagger (and ax, and spear, and assorted other) throwing instructor and exhibitor, and we use a similar designed knife as our large dagger (we have smaller, lighter ones for children, but these are the main knife style). I wanted to purchase my own set so that I could practice more outside of the faire, and not have to borrow the faire supplies. I purchased the set of three, because some of the reviews did state they were poor quality, so I did not want to waste money on a full set of twelve all at once. But after receiving my first order, I am nothing if not thrilled. They are a good weight, if lighter than I am used to, and fit comfortably in the hand. They fly superbly and are very, very sturdy. I see no warping and I've used them constantly (read: daily) all summer, and nothing more than a few nicks that were caused by other daggers. They are not sharp along the sides, but the point is more than enough to 'stick', and the weight of them means that almost no extra effort is necessary to get a satisfying 'thunk'. I wholeheartedly recommend these knives. Those of you that have had them break, or bend? I can only guess flukes. Because mine are fantastic and now I'm ordering a few more sets. ~HSE Employee

### ⭐⭐⭐ Too big for me
*by R***E on October 22, 2018*

All the "how to" guides for beginners on the interwebz recommended something about this size, but as an average sized female that prefers a spin, they're too big for me (both in weight and in comfortably gripping the large handle). That said, they seem to be well made, enough that I ordered the smaller set (have not arrived yet). I've tossed them a few times and my male friends like them much more than my smaller knives. They've hit the target (and everything else) pretty hard at crazy trajectories with no sign of wear/breaking. The tip isn't as sharp as the other sets I own. When the hit is perfect, these stick, but anything even slightly under or over rotated falls. I'm not sure if its the weight or the blunt tip, but both my 8"S&W and my 10" Boker Magnums stay put with a pretty large margin of error.
