With the smaller bottles it works perfect on most shorts. I only ran into issues on my running tights (to be fair I hadn't tested it prior to the race) which didn't work well. The magnets didn't seem to want to stay connected and the lack of a thicker waist band as on my running shorts meant the weight of the bottle full kept allowing it to rotate upwards and out. Eventually I gave up and just carried both - which isn't bad - they are small enough to fit in the hand easily.. Lesson learned - use these with my normal running shorts only!
