They were working perfectly until the first week of November 2020 when both of my motion sensors ceased detecting when motion is “not detected.” Since that time, you can no longer trigger any action in any routine by selecting when motion is not detected. **Q: Can this be powered with standard USB and connected via wifi to an echo dot?** A: Have a unit and powers on fine but I don’t think the motion sensor is connected via WiFi / or sends the motion detection signal to the Alexa devices through WiFi nor Bluetooth, seems sending that via USB port only **Q: Is there somewhere to get an electronic copy of the manual?** A: You can go to Third Reality web site to download electronic copy at https://www.3reality.com/documentation **Q: Can you set the times you want motion detection to work? I don't want my lights to turn on during the day, only at night.** A: You can set routines to do this. Create a new routine, select motion sensor under “when this happens” and you can then select a specific timeframe you’d like the motion sensor trigger. You can then create another routine, follow the same instructions, choose “not detected, choose the same time frame and then use the motion sensor to turn the lights off after no motion has been detected for a chosen period of time. I use this for when I go into my living room/kitchen between 11pm-6pm and turn on the lights when it detects motion. The motion sensor plugs into the USB port at the bottom of the Echo Flex. There is a small blue light on the left that indicates when motion is detected.In testing, the motion sensor seemed to work very well, consistently sensing movement at 15 feet or less. I was easily able to create a routine that turned some of my smart lights on whenever motion was detected. For the cost, I feel like this a great value; as the Echo Flex plus this add-on currently cost $40 total. Being able to have Alexa functionality in a hallway, plus the ability to trigger routines based on motion detection, makes this a super useful little device.Setup was very easy, as the motion sensor was immediately detected by the Alexa app when I plugged it in. Configuring routines is also very easy and straightforward. I would recommend this add-on for anyone that wants to add motion triggered routines, as it seems to work well so far.To set up a motion sensor routine:Open the Alexa app. Open the Menu (three lines in upper left), and choose "Routines". Add a new routine with the Plus sign in the upper right. Touch the Plus sign to the right of "When this happens." Choose "Smart Home" from the list of categories. Select "First motion sensor", and then "Next" in the upper right. Then you can use the Plus sign next to "Add action" to select what you want to happen when motion is detected. I chose "Smart Home" and then "Lights" to make the lights come on when motion is detected. I pulled out the whole Flex unit and let it reboot and I've had no problems with the motion detector since. So far I'm a few weeks in and everything still works just fine. I have it in 2 bathrooms and my garage right now and works as expected. Love it and will set up my remaining 3 units.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Bought 6 Echo Flex devices that came bundled with this motion detector. Set up 2 of them. Walk into my bathroom or garage and the lights would come on. No motion for 1 minute and the lights would go off. Perfect. Great. Grand. Terrific. Wonderful. A week later I walked through the garage, lights on. 30 mins later went back out into the garage and lights are still on! Unplugged the Flex and plugged back in to reset it. Walked by it, lights went on. 1 minute later and the lights were still on. I went to look at the one in my bathroom and same thing! Weird how they both stopped working on the same exact day!I reached out to them through email and hope to hear back from them with other things I can try to get these working again otherwise I'm returning all of them. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Works, most of the time *by G***Y on Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2020* This add-on for the Echo Flex is a relatively inexpensive and easy way to add motion sensing to a smart home system. Just plug it in to your Echo Flex and configure routines based in motion in the Alexa mobile app. For my case, the motion sensor is being used to detect motion in our mudroom and turn on and off the lights in that room.Sometimes however, the sensor stops responding. It will freeze up and require a reboot. This usually entails just unplugging it from the Echo Flex and plugging it back in. Other reviewers have mentioned that the device has completely stopped working for them and I too had a similar experience. Even with the quick reboot, the device did not return to working order. So when this happened, I ended up leaving it unplugged overnight and putting it back into the Flex the next day and that seemed to bring it back to life. Maybe it just took a while for any residual memory to get cleared out by leaving it unplugged for an extended period.
