Part of my passcode was on that side, and I could not even unlock my phone or back it up to a computer, as you need to be able to enter your passcode to "trust" the device. Apple was going to charge me $135 to replace the digitizer, which they said was likely the problem. I decided I was not going to pay that amount for a phone that wasn't even worth that amount of money, but I did want my photos and notes (I was in the middle of planning my wedding, and ALL of my wedding notes/finances were saved on my phone and not backed up, dumb, I know), and Apple said there was no way to back up or access those without replacing the digitizer, so I took to Amazon, read a few reviews, and decided to go with this product. The product was very easy to install. I am not tech savvy at all, but I was able to follow along with the youtube video and replace this without any difficulty. Well, the only difficulty I had was one of the screws inside my iPhone was stripped, but I remembered reading about using a rubber band to remove stripped screws, and I had no trouble after that. I did have to try gently cleaning/clicking the new digitizer into place a couple times before it worked, but, eventually, it all came together, and I cannot say this was due to the product itself, as the digitizer on my phone was the one that went bad, so I think it was simply the connection that was bad initially. I cannot speak to how long the product works, as I turned my phone into Best Buy, and purchased a new one shortly after replacing the screen, but it worked very well the week for which it was used, and if Best Buy can't tell the screen was replaced... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Kit Has Everything Needed - Work Slow and Steady and You WIll be Rewarded *by A***M on December 28, 2014* This kit is complete and I was able to successfully replace my screen with virtually no difficulty. It works fine now and looks great. A couple of suggestions for anyone about to take this little project on. Do this in a well-lit area so you can see well. Get a dark colored piece of fabric or short knap towel to work on. The screws are very small and it's easy to drop them. The towel ensures they stay in one place and are easily found. Lay out the provided tools so that you know where everything is and where they are. In addition, I found it helpful to have a fine tweezers to help manipulate or position a couple of the screws. I also recommend getting a refrigerator magnet and setting all the screws and parts on that during disassembly. This is suggested on the iCracked YouTube video.I actually didn't use the provided instruction booklet. I set up my iPad directly in front of the work space and essentially followed along with the iCracked video on YouTube. I would watch a step and then pause the video to complete the task and then move on. The video was very helpful and instructions were clear.I would also suggest that you plan for this to take about +/- 40 minutes to do. Be patient and do not rush. Better to be slow and steady rather than risk losing or breaking something because you were trying to get done in 5 minutes. You will be quite satisfied with your results when you're done.By the way, iCracked also asks you to recycle your old screen and makes it easy by providing a prepaid mailer label to attached to the box your new screen came in. Nice touch. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and it may seem like it's daunting to do *by A***R on February 27, 2017* Installed this today, and it took me about 5 hours. Their official tutorial on Youtube helped a lot, and it may seem like it's daunting to do, but it works.Additional tools used: magnet (or magnetizer), razor blade (dull), tweezers, and a better suction cup.Few notes that may be helpful/some of the more tedious steps:1. The suction cup that came with the kit was not helpful at all. I tried taping the screen with several layers of heavy duty packing tape as instructed in their tutorial, but that didn't work for me. I had to resort to finding a better suction cup (took one off from the sun shade for my car and that works really well). I was able to lift up the screen enough so that I could pry it open with the dull razor blade (at the notch right above where the headphone cord goes)2. Re-attaching the digitizer, LCD, and camera cables took quite sometime. But just keep trying. There were no shortcuts for me. I just made sure that the surfaces were clean and free of dust and lint and that all of the connection points were pressed down evenly. Just be persistent and patient, this step took me at least an hour to make sure that my screen was free of lines/checker pattern.3. I experienced no problems with moving the home button from the cracked screen to the new one.4. Camera - this one was a little tricky as well. The rubber piece on the new screen was tighter than the one on the original screen. So that took some effort and time. It did work at the end. Again, this step took longer than I thought, but persistence and patience paid off.5. Overall - everything worked smoothly afterwards. I feel that the touch screen was more sensitive than before...but that might be because the digitizer was cleaned and reattached several times. The overall screen color was on the blue-tinted side, but it was okay given that the whole kit was 40 dollars.6.
