## Description

Ghouls live among us, the same as normal people in every way—except their craving for human flesh. Ghouls live among us, the same as normal people in every way—except their craving for human flesh. Ken Kaneki is an ordinary college student until a violent encounter turns him into the first half-human half-ghoul hybrid. Trapped between two worlds, he must survive Ghoul turf wars, learn more about Ghoul society and master his new powers. Unable to discard his humanity but equally unable to suppress his Ghoul hunger, Ken finds salvation in the kindness of friendly Ghouls who teach him how to pass as human and eat flesh humanely. But recent upheavals in Ghoul society attract the police like wolves to prey, and they don’t discriminate between conscientious and ravenous Ghouls.

Review: Review of Tokyo Ghoul vol 2 - Recommended for those who enjoy vampires. Ken's dipped his foot into the water of the ghoul world now. After saving his best friend from being eaten he finds himself in even more of a pickle. He's trying to fit into the worlds of both human and ghouls but this isn't an easy task. Toaka, makes sure to remind him of such but you can tell she kind of likes him. He still refuses to eat, because the only thing that ghouls truly eat, is humans. He started this journey believing what humans believed, that ALL ghouls are EVIL, horrible, MONSTERS. Now he's one of them, or partly one, and serving coffee to some. For coffee is something ghouls can enjoy and keep down on their sensitive stomachs. As Ken learns of the ghoul world and how to wield his powers he runs into the "doves". Ghoul Investigators, much like witch hunters or Buffy, there soul purpose is to analysis, direct, and kill ghouls. They're your normal detectives only they focus on ghouls, not humans. Ken's seeing the other side of the mirror and finding out that ghouls are really no different from humans, except dietary reasons of course. Ghouls have loved ones and children whom they wish to protect. Anteiku, is a coffee house/ghoul sanctuary, is run by an old man, but looks are deceiving. He's an older ghoul who helps to take care of the young and or weak. Ken finds out that ghouls don't just kill some wish to not harm another soul. So they collect suicide victims and much like a butcher shop. . . You get the rest. Ken's still trying to find himself and keep Hide out of his ghoul world. But his friends very perceptive so how much longer until Hide catches on? Oh and Toaka threatened to end Hide if he ever found out, she's a lovely piece of work. Also, Ken must wear a mask, like all the other ghouls so if he ever comes in contact with a dove they won't match his face to his "human" file. Another whirlwind of action and emotional turmoil. I loved Uta, which you'll meet if you read this book, and so many others introduced in the book. Ken's still got a long way to go and the old ghoul believes he can fit in both worlds and that he's got a deeper purpose. Ken's also still refusing to indulge in human flesh, but how much longer can he hold his hunger back? This series is addicting and you see I love vampires, not the Twilight nonsense. Probably lost several review readers, but I was raised on the, THE Dracula himself. So much like vampires, ghouls reside in Tokyo and poor Ken's a half breed. Again, the gores dulled down because of the blurred action in the scenes. Cussing, of course, short clothing, but nothing too revealing and currently no romance. Because I mean who's got time for that when you're busy trying to release your Kagune and stay alive. I loved this book and I'm going to go read the next one and order some more volumes . . . Now where'd that piggy bank scamper off to?

Okay - look - if you're reading this - I'm not giving spoilers. But if you have watched the anime there are some differences but the books absolutely have more to them. The entire series is considered an anime horror genre. If you like the Asian ghoul story arcs, you'll like this.
