## Description

SnakeSkins are a patented instant stuff sack system that collapses your Hennessy Hammock in about 30 seconds. Your shelter never touches the ground, never gets dirty or muddy. It just disappears into two tapering tubes of silnylon which sit gathered on the ropes at each end of the hammock for amazingly quick set up and take down. For use with all Hennessy Hammock models. The 70 D poly hex fly requires an additional pair of snakeskins because the hex fly is bulkier than the standard rainflies. US Patent # US6851137B2

Want fast setups and teardowns of hammocks or rain flys - use snake skins!

*by J***Y on Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2015*

First off, snake skins are pretty light and make setting up a hammock and\or rainfly a snap. If you use these, the hammock or rainfly will never touch the ground itself which is nice when setting up. When it's time to tear down, it's just a matter of sliding them back over the hammock and throwing them into a sack. I use a sep. pair on a rain fly as well. I shake the fly off the best I can and use the snake skins for fast tear down. If needed, after a trip, I hang the fly up in the garage to dry more. I can't express how fast snake skins are for teardown so you aren't stuck trying to fold a large fly or hammock to get it back in to the bag. **The vendor that sells these on Amazon ships incredibly fast.**I use snake skins for a Hennessy Deep Jungle XL hammock and their Hex Asym Rainfly 30D rainfly. These weigh 2.3 oz (part #: 167) and will fit the Deep Jungle XL (this is one of the largest single person hammocks available) and the hex rain fly fairly easily.Hennessy also has another pair of snake skins that weigh 3.28 oz (#: P169) and have a wider diameter. If you use the Hennessy website or Amazon to order the snakeskins XL - you will receive the 2.3 oz version - you need to call Hennessy and specifically ask for the #169 version (which is currently only sold with the new larger hammocks). I use the larger diameter for the rain fly because I switched the stock cordage with thicker and longer pieces of paracord. Even with this change, these snake skins still worked, but it's very snug. The larger size just makes it easier to slide them off and on with the thicker\longer cordage. If you aren't doing any mods to the hammock or fly these will work absolutely fine for you - just posted the extra details for the people that use thicker paracord or bankline for extended trips to the woods.Hope this helps some one out. Attached a picture that shows the 2.3 oz version on the left (sold on Amazon) and the hammock version that you can get if you call Hennessy directly. **Again, if you haven't switched out the lines, this will work fine for you and shave a couple more ounces.**

Fantastic product, facilitation, and execution. I Love it.

This stuff sack is hammock setup zen. I use a bishop bag to deploy my all in one hammock and suspension setup, but keep my 10' x 10' tarp in the innovative SnakeSkins stuff sack. There is ample room and I could likely fit in a 12' x 14' since I actually have a foot extra on each end!I used to set up my tarp with a bowline hitch and a trucker's hitch, but pulling the length of a rolled up tarp in the SnakeSkins through a loop isn't ideal, so I got a dutchwaregear(dotcom) "dutch hook" instead. I could still do the trucker's hitch, but with the added mass of the ridgeline loaded with the tarp made it a bit of a struggle so I ended up getting a dutchwaregear "wasp". The hardware took the sting out of setup as much as the SnakeSkins saved an immense amount of setup time!As soon as my ridgeline was attached to trees, (a breeze with the hardware) my tarp was essentially installed! Even in the windiest circumstances (that could be considered safe to hang) I wasn't struggling to fold a tarp over a ridgeline! I could even deploy one half at a time and stake it down without fighting the whole thing. As soon as the SnakeSkins were pulled away the tarp and all the guy lines were deployed! All that needed to be done is to stab it into the earth and viola! As soon as I pocket the stakes, I can gather a corner, loosely roll the tarp with the no tangle guy lines folded in and pulling the SnakeSkins over the tarp and it was stowed! Disconnecting the dutch wasp hardware end, coiling slack of the ridgeline and then rolling the SnakeSkins to the dutch hook hardware end gave me a small, flat roll I could lash with the remaining ridgeline for packing in my fat bike bag. It's simple, fast, easy to setup as brake down and pack away. Fantastic product, facilitation, and execution. I Love it.

Works on a WiseOwl single hammock

*by M***K on Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2018*

I bought my XL Snakeskins Hennessy Hammock - SnakeSkins XL about a year ago and find them to fit my WiseOwl single hammock exceptionally well. My typical setup is one I gleaned from MCQbushcraft's YouTube channel (kudos, Michael !) whereby I set up my rainfly first, thus getting a roof over my head right off. I then attach one Atlas strap to each supporting tree, just adjacent to the tarp tie outs. Next I hook the 'biners on each end of the hammock into appropriate loops on each strap, slide back the snakeskin on each side and climb in. Take down is simply the reverse and, even in the worst weather the hammock stays dry and ready for its next deployment.
