The installation software takes you to the Yamaha website or file download. **Q: This is a technical question. Is this a class-compliant USB MIDI device ?** A: It is not class compliant. Most USB MIDI adapters are class-complaint and need no driver, but the UX16 requires a driver, and a reboot after installing the driver, before it can be used with OS X. That being said, I see many accounts in reviews of the UX16 that it works properly when other (presumably class-complaint) adapters don't. **Q: Had some problems with a cheaper cord. Will this work with MacBookPro/garageband?** A: This midi interface works fine with my old MacBook (2008 with snow leopard) and a Yamaha PSR620 keyboard. You will need to download the driver from the Yamaha website though. The disk that comes with the cable is not readable by a Mac. **Q: Can I use this cable connected to a converter connected to my ipad and get my musical keyboard to talk to my ipad.** A: Honestly, I don't know what that converter you mention is all about, but it does not sound possible to me. I know about MIDI solutions for iPhone and iPad which work really well. I bought an IK Multimedia iRig MIDI for my iPhone 4 and I am very happy with it (there is a new version supporting the lightining connector for iPhone 5, etc.).
