Here's how and why it works - I found this amazing product after reading "Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye" by Ellie Phillips which basically tells you to (in this order which is important): 1) Use CloSYS for 30 seconds and do not rinse 2) Brush your teeth for 2 minutes (I floss first) 3) Use an anti-sceptic rinse like Listerine for 30 seconds 4) Either rinse with fluoride for 1 minute or (in the case you don't trust fluoride) use Xylitol as a rinse to counteract the alcohol in the anti-sceptic rinse I healed 3 serious cavities in about 2 months. The dentist couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe it. I have xrays. Blew the dentist away. Plus my teeth were whiter than they had ever been before. Get that book too, explains it all, shows the scientific research, talks about stuff like xylitol gum, and has a LOT more info. So, I looked up the chemicals to find out how this stuff works. Review: The only mouth wash that has EVER gotten completely rid of my bad breath in just ONE use! - This stuff could not have worked any better if I wanted it to. It genuinely is the only thing I have tried that's actually given me immediate results and COMPLETELY taken away my bad breath. I as very self conscious and embarrassed about my breath. It seemed like no matter how often I brushed, flossed, scraped my tongue etc, my breath was bad. I could like taste it in the back of my throat. I was immensely paranoid about it, would hold my breath and try to turn away from people if I was close to them. I went searching for a solution that would actually work and I am really glad I tried this one. It has some ingredient in it that completely neutralizes the sulfur compounds in the mouth that are the causes of bad breath. I also really like that it is flavorless and doesn't burn. I'm able to swish and gargle for far longer than I can with the flavored and burning ones. When using this stuff I usually brush my teeth first, scrape my tongue with a scraper, then I swish my mouth with water really well before using it. Once I pour into the lid and get swishing, I try to keep my tongue down as much as I can to let the rinse get to the back of my throat, I tilt my head back and let it sit there the longest because I suspect that is where most of the bacteria hides from me. Once you spit it out, DO NOT RINSE YOUR MOUTH WITH ANYTHING AFTERWARD. Do not eat or drink anything for at least 30 mins after rinsing as well. The bad taste/smell I could always sense in my mouth and throat was completely gone after the first use. I was so happy. I felt like I could talk to people and not worry so much. **Q: How long does it remove stinky breath for, like all day long or for just like a couple hours?  Also is removing bad breath its main purpose ?**
A: I use it to combat bacteria which was causing inflamation of my gums which in turn caused bad breath. I no longer have bad breath....

**Q: Would like to add to the warm water in my water pic. Is this recommend & how much should I add?**
A: The short answer is no because you need to use it full strength to achieve maximum effectiveness.  Here's the routine my dentist has me using and it (in 4 days of use twice daily) took the pockets in my gums from 12's & 14's down to 7's.  After brushing for 2 full minutes (30 seconds on each side of teeth), rinsing and then flossing/hydroflossing I use my water pic in the morning and dental floss at night -- your teeth need to be clean and all the stuff in your mouth rinsed out:  (1) Closys - ½ oz or two full capfuls for and swish around in your mouth for 30 seconds.  Then spit it out.; (2) Antiseptic mouthwash like Listerine (with alcohol in it) - use 2/3 oz or 4 tsp. - there's usually a marker point on the inside of the cap and swish around in your mouth for 30 seconds.  Then spit it out; and, (3) Act fluoride rinse without alcohol - use 10 ml (there is usually a marker in the cap or use the squeeze and measure up to the line on the bottle with a pump).  Swish around in your mouth for a full minute.  Spit and then don't eat, drink or smoke anything for a full 30 minutes to ensure that the protective coat fully dries to protect your teeth.

**Q: Do you just add the little tube of flavoring to the whole bottle if you want it to be minty?**
A: Well I've never added the mint flavoring in because mint flavoring burns my mouth. But personally, I would add a quarter of the little bottle at a time, and then taste to see what you think. Mint has always been used to mask or neutralize mouth odors, so the proof of this product is that it doesn't NEED the mint. Your breath will smell just fine without the mint, once you start to use Closys regularly. It's most critical to use it at night, right before bed, so your mouth is squeaky clean for all those hours when saliva production (and protection) is at its lowest point. It also helps if you scrape your tongue clean with a tongue scraper, right before using the closys.

**Q: Is this mouthwash antifubgal?**
A: CloSYS is antifungal and antimicrobial. 

We have data (in our patents) that CloSYS kills and inhibits growth of Candida (fungi also considered as microbes). Therefore, our claim “antifungal” & "antimicrobial."

This stuff works. Got if for my daughter who had sensitivity to MINT flavored mouthwashes and did not want any mounthwash with alcohol. Her gums were inflamed & swollen after braces were removed. Within a week of using CloSYS, her gums calmed down, the swelling was gone...her orthodontist was very pleased with the results. Before this, she only would use grape flavored mouthwash which was a fluoride treatment with virtually no benefit for the gums.
