Review: Funny Movie - Love this movie always been one of my favorites and a classic. I usually buy all my movies on iTunes but the ones they don’t sell I buy here in desertcart. Since desertcart basically sells everything. I had to get it and add to my collection. Glad I have it. One less movie off my wish list. Like most 80’s movies this was one of the ones I loved and was hard to find. iTunes finally got it and I bought the digital copy as well. Review: A love letter to the blacksploitation genre in HD comes to the States 9.5/10 - I'm Gonna git you Sucka is a near perfect homage to the 1970's blacksploitation rising The first time i seen this i was very young it may have been my first blacksploitation genre film i really love the film for what it is and what it does right! The Cast is perfect (It's a shame they couldn't get Pam Grier though to make some type of cameo) Keenen Ivory Wayans (Jack Spade) just a perfect 70's blacksploitation name This is Keenen Ivory first major role and he does a decent job overall Bernie Casey (John Slade) Great actor he is flat out awesome in this role Antonio Fargas (Flyguy) Fargas is pure 1970's Retro he might not be in much of the film but, the Pimp of the Year flashback scene is epic Steve James (Kung Fu Joe) a super underrated character actor that left us way to soon RIP Steve James (1952–1993) Isaac Hayes (Hammer) Jim Brown (Slammer) Ja'net DuBois (Ma Bell) really great actress the woman was on Good Times that makes her golden in my book Dawnn Lewis (Cheryl) this is Dawnn's first major acting role and she's perfect John Vernon (Mr. Big) I'd love to know the story to how they got Vernon to do this flick he makes this film his own every scene he's just so fun to watch Kadeem Hardison (Willie) Damon Wayans (Leonard) Both Kadeem and Damon play off each other perfectly Them having to chose over the stairs or the window is brilliant and both play it up the proper way Then you have these nutty cameos that come out of nowhere Clarence Williams III and Eve Plumb playing husband and wife John Witherspoon, Hawthorne James Gary Owens playing himself and you can't forget about Anne-Marie Johnson as Cherry one of the "worst pick-ups in all the 1980's It's so bizarre and crazy Anne-Marie makes that scene along with Keenen's reactions In 2001 MGM released it on dvd under there Soul Cinema brand It was a early MGM Catalog title so the transfer was ugly It was a poor excuse for a digital release (The audio was also less then perfect) Less then a year ago a Region 2 UK Blu ray was released i put off on getting it Then Kino Lorber put out a release date for a U.S. version So i waited for a proper price drop then pre-ordered it Picture Quality: The blu ray is very impressive it looks very good (Not perfect but, it's night and day next to the poor MGM dvd) Audio: the DTS-HD 2.0 surround sound could be better why no 5.1 ?? But, it's a much better sounding audio track next to the original dvd Is this a must have blu ray without a doubt if you grew up on this film it's a must have This is the way it was meant to look Even if you never seen it and love Grindhouse/blacksploitation films check it out this was way before the Grindhouse genre returned This film isn't given nearly enough credit or respect as a solid hybrid of comedy meets action It still holds up and look better then ever Extras: **Theatrical Trailer (which was ported over from the MGM dvd, ***Making Of ***Additional Interviews & B-roll (Both these extras are old but, very interesting to see but, it's less then 10 minutes) The extras are lackluster to say the least......
