Some mounting suggestions. *by J***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 17, 2020* 2 year update - Dropped a star, my wife started blaming me for leaving the light on in the bathroom. I explained that I seldom used the mirror but she wasn't buying it. It wasn't until the mirror spontaneously turned on while she was standing there that she realized that it wasn't me. Now, we live in a humid place and this IS a bathroom mirror but I suspect some issue with the capacitance sensor that reacts to touch. Now she just turns the switch on the base off to ensure that the light stays off but sometimes it doesn't respond to touch, you have to touch the target area several times or hold for a second or two for the light to turn on. It's not a huge deal but it makes me wonder if it isn't going to fail completely at some point. Another issue, the glass sometimes rotates in the frame.Original review:I installed this as a permanent fixture which involved some small modifications to the unit to support being mounted to a 4" round electrical box. I describe the mods and some suggestions below if you want to go that route. Overall this seems to be a well made fixture, I was surprised at how heavy it was. The light is adequately bright and the dimmer is a nice feature as well. The is no noticeable distortion on the plano side and the concave side works as you would expect. My only criticism (provided it lasts) is that the mirror rotates freely. It would be nice to have some adjustable friction knobs so you could tighten it. As it is the slightest touch to the mirror will cause the mirror to rotate. The pivot arms are tight and stay put when positioned.I needed to make the following mods to mount this to an electrical box:1. Obviously you need a 4" round box that is wired to a branch circuit. I used a "heavy duty" old work box with a U shaped metal retainer (not a fan box, you don't want or need a fan box). I opted for this box due to the weight of the mirror and because the outside diameter of the flange on the box was smaller than the flange on a "not heavy duty" box with the three ears that secure it. After mounting the mirror it was snug to the wall with no gaps. The price difference between the two different style boxes was negligible. A standard rectangular old work box may work, I just had concerns about the ears on the box not being completely covered by the mirror base. A metal old work box and Madison clips would likely be fine but then you'll need to rustle up a couple #6-32 screws to mount the mirror.2. You have to cut the cord off on the base. I cut it about 2" from the stress relief. A little more wouldn't hurt. The jacket will slide from the three leads with a tug. The strain relief must be removed first to free the wires. Using a pair of pliers squeeze the little tab holding it in the base and push it out of the hole.3. There is a plastic cover inside under the mounting base that needs a hole for the wires to pass through. I drilled a hole with a 1 1/4" hole saw below the two screw holes that attach it. The mounting base already has a large hole in it.4. The holes in the mounting base almost line up with the mounting holes on the box. I had to file the mounting holes with a small round file to make them a bit closer to match the holes on the box. You can use the supplied sheet metal screws to attach the base to the box.5. If you are mounting this in a bathroom or other wet location it must be wired to a GFCI protected circuit. I pulled the feed for this from the load side of the device in the existing box shown in the picture to the right of the mirror.6. The wires that feed the mirror are VERY thin. Use appropriately sized wire nuts to make the connection. ### ⭐⭐ Extremely dim after 1 year! *by T***B on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 4, 2022* Everything was as advertised for this lighted mirror until the last few weeks when I realized that the light is so much dimmer than it was at the beginning. I don’t even use the light every day and when I do it’s only for a few minutes at a time. At this point it isn’t even worth turning the light on because it doesn’t make my view in the mirror any brighter than just the lights in the room.
