Only the gustiest of winds will get through it. It does get in the way of the headphone jack if you like to live monitor your recordings (which you SHOULD be doing at all times), but that's not the windscreen's fault and you can work around it - it's more of a design oversight with the Tascam DR series themselves and not worth deducting a star for. Review: DR-07XP - It fits, but is huge. - The wind-screen is built well, with a strong elastic and two handles. However, the product picture shows it being much closer to the width of the dr-07xp, and it's significantly bigger. Room for the A-B mic pattern, and then some. No wind noise. It does muffle the high end, but less so than the cheap knockoffs available on Amazon. (I did a direct comparison, recording my stereo in the living room with each windscreen). But, I was able to restore the high end with EQ in a mastering application on my computer (Izotope Ozone) with excellent results.
