Pain relieved by prescription pills. Surgery in the future? Gotta be a better way. Feeling that this was a small price to pay for possible relief, I ordered these for the shoulder, back, wrist and knee Over $100. Dr. Oz had just reported on an expensive knee therapy involving a battery. He said that he did know that it worked and that he didn't endorse any other products because he didn't know if they worked or not. No research. Here on Amazon though, we find dozens of personal experiences rating these items a B+. Good enough for a try. I know that the mind is a powerful thing and that psycosomatic relief is a possibility. So, I was watching for that.After getting the shoulder wire, I immediately cleaned with alcohol and applied it. Within a half hour, I could tell a big difference. No more pills required. If my shoulder hurts, I would put it back on. After doing this for a few days, the supplied tape was gone. No way to get more. So I began taping it on. After a week, still no shoulder pain but I had a skin irritation, no matter what kind of tape I used. So I came up with a way to carry it under the shirt, affixed by an arm band placed high on the arm. Complicated to explain, but suffice it to say that They Need To Sell Original Replacement Tapes for the unit. The back brace is much too small but very effective. I have generalized back pain and I have to move it. But it does work. I don't know how though. How can a wire with a light (3 v. )current running thru it help my muscles? If you know, please write. It's driving me crazy. In short (pun intended), these units work much better than the magnets I've used in the past (with some relief). I've also replaced the batteries in the all the units except for the shoulder one. However, over the past weekend I used it on my shoulder. My family makes homemade sauerkraut once a year. Anyone who knows how to make sauerkraut knows that it can be hard work. You have to stomp the cut cabbage in a large (20 gallon in our case) earthenware crock with a wooden stomper until the cabbage starts to break down (think mashing mint with a muddler for a mojito, but with 100 pounds of shredded cabbage instead). I did 90% of the stomping and woke up the next unable to move my arms due to shoulder pain and stiffness in both shoulders. Since I only had one of the actipatches, I put it on the shoulder of my non-dominate (weaker) arm for the day and kept it on all night. I did not take any OTC pain relievers. The next day there was a noticeable difference in pain level. The one I used the patch on felt great with minimal pain. The other one still felt very sore. The only issue I have with the Actipatch is that it was hard to keep in place over my shoulder. An ace bandage helped keep it in place.Updated May 21, 2010.I had foot surgery on 5/14/10 to remove a plantar fibroma from the bottom of my foot. A few days after surgery I placed the actipatch (minus the strap that comes with it, which ripped when I used it for my shoulder) inside the foot boot they put on me to hold my foot still. I have kept it turned on for the past 4 days straight. I have noticed that I don't need the pain meds (percocet) as much. I also had a post-op appointment today and was told by the podiatrist that the surgery scar "looked terrific." She asked what the thing was in the boot and I told her all about the Actipatch and what it does. I purchased this item to use for lower back and SI joint pain. I figured I would try it and if it didn't work I could get my money back.I read all the reviews and noticed that most of them were good some where not.I must say that it did help me I'm not exactly sure how this works. I've actually ordered some books from Amazon on how this method of pain relief works.For me it does work and I've had long-term chronic debilitating pain. You don't feel anything it doesn't have any side effects and for me it relieved my pain amazingly quick.I sleep with it on and then leave it off until I start having pain again. You can wear it during the day too with no problem.I have also tried it on friends and two of my dogs and I must say it seem to have helped my dog's as well and my friends said they thought it was weird but it did seem to help them too. I wish there was something I could use like this that would do my whole body since I have entire body pain.
