LINKIN PARK - Iridescent - desertcart.com Music

Review: Nice CD Single - While the title track is a good tune, I specifically bought this track for the bonus track, "New Divide". I really love New Divide. it's an epic song! :D
Review: Melancholy but ultimately hopeful rock number - I have a confession to make -- I had no desire to listen to anything by Linkin Park before watching the live-action Transformers movies. I didn't typically listen to metal or alternative rock, and what my friends had to say about the band and their music wasn't particularly flattering. It wasn't until the 2007 Transformer movie introduced me to "What I've Done" that I realized hey, I like this music. I'm not so sure about other songs by the band, but I enjoyed that particular number enough to purchase an MP3. With "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" and its accompanying Linkin Park number "Iridescent," I think I have a new favorite by the band. In fact, I daresay I like this song better than "What I've Done." This song is actually fairly mellow compared to other songs done by the same band -- it's a thoughtful, almost melancholy tune, which is fitting given that it plays during one of the most dramatic and gut-wrenching scenes in the movie (the destruction of Chicago). And yet it's oddly hopeful as well, and the tempo and mood pick up partway through the song to a heartlifting finale. It's actually quite an effective number, one I feel seems to convey that there is hope to be found even in the bleakest scenario. This may not be a typical Linkin Park song, but it's certainly one of my favorites by the band. If they have other songs in this particular vein, I know I'll give them a listen. :)
