It is actually fairly simple to program and about the 5th time through you should get the hang of it. In operation it could not be easier. You will need to provide a UPS to buffer your power source - do NOT try and skip this suggestion. It uses standard PIR's, sets off an external alarm (both extra items) and calls three numbers with a message you record. I live out in the country where this is about my only choice, but considering the cost of the unit and the work involved, if a decent alarm company willing to do their own installation was available with a contract less than $20 a month, I'd sign the contract.
