Review: first impressions...an absolute beast! - First day impressions...out of the box/checkover/first runs...she's a heavy solid beast! As with any new board, my check over entailed removing hangers and applying a thin bead of white lithium grease to the truck bushing flats and pivot bearing cups (yes, that's why your board squeaks when you turn...and it shouldn't!)...then applying blue loctite to the hanger fixing bolts and adjusting tighter for my style (higher speed smooth d/h freeride carving) Note about the durometer of the bushings- they are too soft for me...83A hardness. I'm only 140lbs. but I ride fast and steep and like carving gs turns cleanly (I'm a freeride snowboarder and surfer and like to go fast lol) I found the board trying to become unnervingly unstable at higher speed with the hangers pretty tight, so I'll be upgrading bushings to Venom 94a/91a hardness d/h shr cylinders to smooth that out (so I don't have to have them cranked down as tight). Next, definitely check and tighten all 8 baseplate screws/nuts before first ride!! All of mine were 3-4 turns too loose out of the box- not nearly tight enough IMO! Also, No dampers underneath, I've got a pair of thin 1/8" rubbers on the way. Minor adjustments on the wheel nuts, the bearings really are decent and roll this heavy setup smooth and long, no work needed in the bearing dept for a while, yay! Next, the plank itself: grip tape, layup work, fit and finish are perfect, nice understated graphics...however- it's super thick, super bomber heavy, and *seriously stiff* af!! If you want a flexy longboard, this isn't it! It barely flexes when I bounce on it! So, it doesn't flex much in turns either...seems it's more the trucks and wheels handling the turns. I kind of wanted a *little* more flex for carving but..having said that, she's a fun and Interestingly different kind of animal to ride- very stable and confidence inspiring, she likes to go fast! All that weight and mass translates into bomber smooth gs lines around 25+mph...about when I found myself grinning hugely! A notable mention about my local terrain/surfaces etc on these first runs: I live in a mountain campground with a bit of everything...smooth asphalt one lane access roads w/small abrupt speedbumps and dips with lots of Fall debris this time of year (leaves and pine needles), rocks, the lower end has some mild downhill multi-cambered dirt double track also, and everything goes downhill...and I mobbed them all at speed lol! No wrecks, just runs! Still figuring out the wheels and trucks quirks, but I'm finding the big 100mm treaded wheels carve and hold *almost* as good on asphalt as smooth dh street wheels...I feel they would slide out if pushed too far, but I'm not a slider. Well...actually... I bombed from the asphalt down into the dirt double track and found myself in a rather exciting 30ft controlled dirt toeside drift slide...the wheels *do* work offroad...another big grin! I've provided some non-pretty shots to show some practical sizes and first days dirt heh. So, there you have it! Tomorrow I'll be discovering more about it...and wishing I hadn't lost my elbow pads probably! Oh, and to that cute mom that wrote that adorable review up there....hi! My names Bud...wanna ride? 😊😍😅 EDIT/UPDATE: 3 months in...this board has become my go-to winter board! (until I go electric heh...Atom BX-10-ish dual motor DIY build!) Handles the messy, sandy, winter debris strewn campground roads better than any other board currently in the quiver. Changes: Flipped the hangers for wayyy better turning radius/carving feel and lower CG. After experimenting with different duros, ended up with Venom 91d barrel/cones all around. And the best upgrade- Zealous bearings (greens) from Muirskate! The most amazing bearings ever!
Review: Old guy spends big money for old feelimg - Ok, I am a 49 year old father of three who used to skate all over the place when young. I got sick of just watching my kids jam on their scooters in the COVIDly empty pool parking lot behind my house, so I bought this board to join the party. Gotta tell you- it's awesome! It isn't like your old board though- it is concave to a degree I wasn't used to and I darn near fell on my butt in my driveway to the delight of my wife and three kids. After that, I took it to an equally COVIDly empty library parking lot near the house to practice. A few things: 1. This guy is heavy. You are unlikely to be able to step on the back and whip the front wheels around. To do so, you would have to distribute the weight of your front foot pretty awkwardly toward the back and I am not comfortable at my age believing I could stay on the board that way. 2. For the same reason, you aren't gonna stop this board by kicking back on the tail as you may have back in the day. Once I started feeling comfortable I immediately went down a hill I had no business going down and it was really narrow with a sharp turn. I bailed into the pricker bushes. It was a find first day memory with some good blood to show for it. 3. This thing turns like no other. You can really dramatically shift it and your weight and the response from the board is crazy. I went to the pool after my wreck and began trying the hill which it is situated on: it is a sweet little hill with a nail out uphill by an emergency gate. Having not skated in years , I was super happy with how easy it was to carve to take off speed. It is an uncannily responsive board and on the very wide empty parking lot I could easily control the speed simply by shifting my weight. I was going pretty fast, but the width of the board and the responsive handling put me at ease. 4. I did notice that the grip tape is coming up even though it is brand new, which was a disappointment. All in all though, this is a well engineered board that makes it safe and easy to resume skating. The wheels essentially take all the shock out of most anything you hit, so riding is more or less just pure joy. It's a bit pricey maybe, but I was more or less in love with it from "go" so.it is worth it

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Might not hold up to intense abuse
*by A***R on November 13, 2019*

This board is a beast. It's extremely stable and fast. Rolls on grass, dirt, and well-packed gravel. I fequently ride it down steep gravel roads, rain or shine. The 100mm wheels haul ass on pavement. The weels are pretty soft, but can slide and skid without too much difficulty. Atom makes a similar 39" all terrain board called the Woody, which costs a little less. I bought that one first, then this one. This one comes with wider trucks and stiffer bushings, and will give you less speed wobbles. Update: After 2 and 1/2 months of intense abuse I snapped the deck. I rode it almost every day in the rain (all it does is rain in Southeast Alaska). I blame it on the moisture. On the first dry day after months of rain I was practicing slides and my foot went right through the deck. Now I've got my drone trucks on the 39" all terrain Woody and it feels a lot snapppier. It sits higher up, which allows you to leverage more downforce on your inside wheels when leaning deep into a carve. I'm going to try to keep this one dry and on the road mostly. I've got an aluminum deck on the way for the wet days. Downgrading my rating from 5 to 4 stars. You can only expect so much out of a piece of wood, but this is advertised as all terrain and the dude is going through puddles in the commercial. If you weigh 170 and truely punish it everyday it might break in a couple of months. If you're just pushing it around on dry roads it'll probably last a while. The Atom all terrain 39" Woody doesn't drop down quite as far as this one, and might be a stronger design but I haven't put it through the same abuse yet.
