Review: Great for science fair project! - Worked perfectly for our elementary school science fair! Glad they had the little rubber triangle piece so they didnt roll off counters as we worked on our experiment. They are glass so maybe not suited for younger kids but my girls (9 & 7) were careful when using them and coukd read then easily. Pretty durable but I wouldn't let one fall to the floor. Temp reading seemed as accurate as could be for what we needed. Definitely worth what we paid for what we needed.

A: Length is 12 inches or around 30 cm. The thickness or diameter is almost 3/4th of that of a standard pencil.

**Q: What is the diameter on this thermometer?**
A: Approximately 3 mm. Same as most glass thermometers. Same size as what is in a beer brewing kit.

**Q: will this fit a 24 40 thermometer adapter?**
A: Yes. The thermometers are approximately 6.5mm in diameter. The normal thermometer adapter has an opening in the center of 7mm, with an O-ring so that they will accommodate thermometers between 6-7mm. The center hole is the same whether it is a 14/20, 19/22 or a 24/40 adapter.

I use it to check the temperature of breastmilk or the occasional hot chocolate. Easy to use, clean, and read.

### ⭐ Began to respond erratically on second of nine tests for science fair and broke when we stopped test

My eighth-grade son is doing two different science fair projects and needed a scientific thermometer. As he was conducting the second of what was supposed to be nine tests, I noticed that the liquid inside the thermometer began to look weird. The temperature had only reached 25 degrees, but the line began to appear like dashes instead of a straight line. I knew that this was a problem and we stopped the test. Upon picking up the thermometer from the top, it broke. If you look at the picture I've attached, it looks like it had begun weakening at the 10 degree mark. The beginning temperature was actually 20 degrees; the weak spot is at 10 degrees; and the liquid fill inside continued to climb even after it broke. Obviously, the good thing is that it did not shatter into a bunch of shards nor did it spill anything toxic (like when mercury used to be used for these things). The organic fill didn't spill out, either. It was inexpensive, but buyer beware that yes, it's an inexpensive thermometer and therefore, one that you may want if you don't want to shell out a lot of money for one of these. But you may run into the same problem I did.
