This means that if you need a *center-negative* connection, you have to find some way to isolate the outside of the connector from your metal case, or else positive will be shorted to ground. I wanted to use this to build a guitar pedal which takes a standard center-negative power connection, but I had to isolate the jack myself using epoxy (Milliput). Large heat shrink would probably also work.
