Review: Best Headset as a gamer - Without a DOUBT the best headphones I’ve ever had for a reseaonable price! I was looking to replace my gaming headset for something with better audio and not with the “gamer” tag. The build quality is great, metal reinforced with a comfortable soft headband for long gaming OR listening sessions. The cord is long enough to allow me to freely move around my room like my previously wireless one. Connecting was as easy as plugging into my amp (which you might need depending on your Ohms and motherboard). I would definitely recommend it for gamers looking to move on from the over priced mess that is the gaming headset market. Sound is great, noise canceling via Closed Back sound stage, did I mention COMFORTABLE? Highly recommend!!
Review: (80-Ohm Model) Nice Comfortable Audio Listening With Good Build Quality for Mid-Range Headphones - I'm rating these headphones at 4.5/5 for being a very good mid-range set of 80-ohm 'head speakers'; I am not comparing these to higher quality (and more expensive) headphones because I've never listened to high-end headphones. I bought these over a month ago and I really like the audio quality, so I'm giving a positive detailed comment here. I, like some others have noted in their comments, find that my ears do warm up and get a little moist very quickly, but after a while I don't notice this, and this aspect never becomes discomforting over hours of use. I wear glasses and these fit over the temples very well and do not cause discomfort, and there's no external sound leakage in/out of the cans. I have larger ears and the cans' size do provide a good over-ears fit, and are just marginally large enough for my ear lobes. I've worn them for hours and have not experienced any fatiguing side pressure on my head. The audio cable (3.5mm plug) is quite long and has a substantial cable diameter, and it is an attached cord. The 3.5mm male audio plug fits firmly into an audio plug socket. I don't hear any extra bass frequency emphasis, just as others have noted too; it feels balanced across the low, mid, and higher sound frequencies (I'm not an audiophile). I use these connected to a FiiO USB E10K audio DAC (avail on desertcart; it's an external USB sound card, essentially), which converts USB digital audio into the analog stereo audio signal; perfect for USB audio-out devices like a PC and a Sony PS4. I bought these to replace an Audio-Technica ATH-M40x Professional Studio Monitor Headphone, which eventually broke (irreparable) after 3 years at the can hinges. I'd say the AT-40s have a bit more bass emphasis than these DT 770s, so I liked the AT-40's audio (soundstage?) perhaps a wee bit more. These have less side-clamping pressure too. I've read that the AT-40's can hinges have been improved to reduce its track-history of breaking, but I wasn't willing to chance it again. I'm pleased with the music quality I hear from uncompressed audio (like CD music). I cannot detect any audio distortion or frequency drop-off across the audio ranges, though again I do not have a 'critical ear' listening sensitivity (and don't want to either). When an audio file source has a defect or distortion, you will hear it - as you should with quality speakers. The build quality and hinges! are better. I feel I made a good purchase with these mid-range-quality headphones in this price range. HTH

## Features

- The closed-back design blocks out ambient noise which is perfect for critical listening, mixing, and professional editing in any studio environment, allowing you to focus entirely on the fine details of the audio including the brilliant high frequencies, making subtle mix imperfections, noise, clipping, and digital artifacts clearly audible while still isolating room sound for undisturbed focus on the music, dialog, or soundscape.
- KNOW YOUR OHMS: 32Ω headphones are easily driven by phones, laptops, and gaming consoles; they CAN be used with higher-output gear but may be overly sensitive, making volume more difficult to fine-tune. 80Ω pairs well with home studio interfaces, receivers and integrated amps, offering smoother volume control and balanced performance. 250Ω is ideal for pro studio interfaces, dedicated headphone amps, home hi-fi, and audiophile systems. Wrong pairing could deliver quieter sound and less bass.
- SOFT VELOUR & LIGHTWEIGHT FIT: Experience ultimate comfort with the signature over ear (circumaural) velour pads and lightweight design. The snug, but comfortable fit allows you to stay focused on your craft during intensive studio marathons without distraction.
- STRAIGHT CABLE WITH ROOM TO ROAM: The 80 Ohm version features a 3 m (9.8 ft) straight cable that provides enough length to allow you to move about the space. Ideal for professional engineers and editors who require room to roam throughout the workspace. An 1/8” (3.5 mm) jack with a threaded1/4” (6.35 mm) adapter is installed out of the box. Just unscrew the adapter if 1/8” is the right fit for your gear.
- GERMAN CRAFTSMANSHIP with REPLACEABLE PARTS: Proudly handcrafted in Germany and engineered with robust, replaceable components, enjoy peace of mind and exceptional sound quality for years, knowing you have a reliable tool built to withstand the demands of rigorous, professional use - fusing durability with the highest level of auditory precision, making them your lifelong studio and listening companion.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How does this compare to the Audio Technica M50x?**
A: AS an audio engineer I can share with you these are two different headphones and I believe their respective sound strengths and weaknesses reflect their nature. Without getting into the techno babble, I will simplify this in the following manner: The Audio Technica M50x is a general headset which is good for listening to music and due its build design very good/great for gaming. The Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO is great for audio production and more detailed listening for music and good/very good for gaming. If you are looking for a gaming headset, you can't go wrong with either, if you are looking to listen to music and want a more detailed sound or if you using them for audio production then the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO should be your choice.

**Q: Does the 30 ohms have the same bass output if it is connected to an amp compare with the 250 ohms?**
A: I am looking at this 250 ohm headphone because it has a high impedance. I build a vacuum tube amplifier with a nominal impedance of 600 ohms. Although it seems to drive 32 ohm headphones, it will work better with headphones closer to 600. The high voltage changes needed to drive high impedance headphones do not carry a lot of current, but they do carry much detail. I tend to believe that high impedance headphones will be more responsive and defined than lower impedance headphones, but their hardware requirements are different.

Small mobile devices don't have high voltages in them to generate signals for high impedance headphones, which is why low impedance is standardized, and even then, many devices lack the power to drive the bass on them. A dedicated amp is the extra hardware to fill out a quality signal. So even poor quality headphones can sound better when driven by the appropriate source.

In the end, your headphones will not improve the sound significantly if you do not have an amplifier to back them up, though I still think higher impedance phones will result in a better sound.

**Q: Given the prices $180 for 32 ohms, $278 for 80 ohms, and $170 for 250 ohms, which one should I buy for 98% amp-less listening?**
A: For an amp-less setup the 32 Ohm are the way to go. Yes you can use the 80 Ohms non-amp'd (the 250s are not recommended for this), but your listening levels are going to be limited (how many dB you get out of them).
Beyerdynamic created a set of low-impedance for a reason - and if your laptop / phone / or PC with no external amp/dac or amp'd internal card are your primary use...then you have your answer.

**Q: Anyone know where these are made? Are they made in China like many competitor's models?**
A: Products are made in Germany. Beware of counterfeiter units shipping from China at reduced price and NO warranty.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (80-Ohm Model) Nice Comfortable Audio Listening With Good Build Quality for Mid-Range Headphones

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ DT770pro, a wonderful closed headphone!
*by T***7 on December 27, 2016*

For the price these are fantastic! They are so detailed for regular headphones. Their frequency response sounds very flat from bass to treble. Because these are so flat they add their own coloration to the music with a pretty unique sounding bass and bright highs. Bass is tight. Highs are almost sibilant, but not quite and just bearable enough that I don't get pain when it comes to high sounds or S's / SH's in vocals. The Senn HD800 are way more sibilant and to the point of being unbearable for me. While headphones like the HD650 might be a little more of what we think of as 'neutral', I find the DT770pro 80ohm to be more lively and involving. If you don't listen to the HD650 critically you can almost forget you are listening to them. Some would view them as a little dull or boring sounding. The DT770pro are very fun to listen to and I always know I'm listing to music with them. With closed headphones you always risk loosing a lot of soundstage depth, but I'm happy to report that these do not suffer from too much of this. They approach the soundstage found in my HD650 and would be perfectly fine for well recorded music / movies / video games. If soundstage depth is a top priority, you will probably find an open headphone better. The DT770pro are insanely comfortable. They don't have much clamping pressure and the ear pads are luxuriously soft! Are they as nice as my Stax O2 mk1? No. Are they worth the price I paid for them on Amazon? Yes, a million times over. If you find the typical sennheiser sounds to be a little boring or uninvolving, but you don't want to sacrifice comfort and soundstage by getting something like a Grado headphone, then seriously look at these DT770pro 80ohm, especially if you are looking for a closed headphone that will not disturb those around you or if you want to help isolate you from your outside environment. I am an audiophile with over 15 years experience listening to high end audio. Listening of my DT770pro was done both from a cheap Sony receiver and from a computer sourced digital output > MHDT Labs Havana w/ WE396A > HeadAmp GS-1. I'm happy to report these Beyerdynamic headphones are handmade in Germany and arrived in flawless condition. Top quality parts and top quality assembly.
