## Overview

Sikaflex Construction Sealant is a professional-grade, one-component polyurethane sealant designed for joints 1/2" or smaller. It offers superior elasticity and strong adhesion to a variety of materials including brick, wood, concrete, and metal. Weatherproof and waterproof, it prevents moisture infiltration while remaining paintable and stain-free for a clean finish. Certified to ASTM standards, it’s easy to apply with standard caulking guns and cures fully in about a week, making it ideal for durable, flexible, and visually seamless sealing in both residential and commercial projects.

## Description

This one-component, non-sag sealant is the choice for professional-grade quality while requiring only beginner-level DIY skills. It's also elastomeric, which gives the paste a rubbery texture and enables your joints to adjust without cracking or breaking. Seal windows and door perimeters, and fill gaps in walls, trim, flashing, and more. It's resistant to aging and weathering, so the Sikaflex white caulk always looks its best. It's both waterproof and water immersible, enabling use in moisture-heavy environments. The final cure is complete in about a week, depending on atmospheric conditions.

Review: Best Caulk/Sealant for DIY'ers - In my experience with caulk products over many years nothing compares. My regret is that I didn't find it sooner. I was happy to find silicone after watching cheap contractor caulk used in building our new home dry, shrivel, and crack before the home was a year old. And virtually no flex if there is any movement. 100% Silicone has it's merits, if you're satisfied with its color, because its non-paintable. It's also very hard to clean-up and remove now or later, and can be difficult to work with as it can get messy and you have just a few minutes to work it. And even after it dries, it attracts dust and whatever's in the air, regardless of whether it's clear silicone or colored. And it's not cheap. However. it does the job, holds up against the elements for years, works well if you don't want to paint, and it flexes. But the other issues just mentioned sent me on a journey of research and it paid off. Sika has a number of great sealants formulated for various needs. I generally use the PRO Select Construction Sealant around the house. I've also used the product designed for mortar. Some products are "no-sag" and others are self-leveling. It goes on smooth, is easier to work with, is less messy, has a longer working time, and easier to clean up than silicone. If you make a mistake or touch another surface with it you can often remove it with a damp rag. If sitting a while, citric orange solvent generally takes care of it. It also readily takes paint, which is recommended outdoors if you want it to last. Without paint, it doesn't hold up quite as well to UV and the elements as silicone, although much better compared to cheap caulk. This stuff also flexes, reducing the chance of separation in the event there's surface movement. It also doesn't dry up or degrade in the tube as fast as silicone. Another thing I learned recently. I came across a couple tubes 2 years past their expiration date and the product in both tubes performed like new. It's not cheap and some folks complain there's less in a standard tube than other caulks. But this is minor stuff if you want the best sealant for all the reasons I just covered.
Review: Great product - Great stuff seals well

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can this be used in-between cement joints in a walkway?**
A: Sika’s self-leveling sealant (and backer rod) is the most appropriate product for that situation. The backer rod prevents 3 point adhesion, which you should look up before performing this job. Self-leveling sealant will flow downhill if used on a slope, so the construction sealant might be a better choice in that particular case.

**Q: If used to fill gaps between tiles, how does this (polyurethane) compare with epoxy grout ?**
A: This has a silicone texture, I will use it in for the outdoor area. I would not use this to fill gaps between tiles, you should use epoxy grout especially if it's indoor.

**Q: Will this adhere to asphalt for the crack between driveway and cement apron? I’d rather use a weatherproof flexible sealant than asphalt cold patch.**
A: It should! This was recommended by the company who raised up three LARGE concrete patio slabs. Unfortunately, the slabs had all moved in different directions, letting water sit up against the foundation. Once raised up, with settling of earth underneath, a couple of the slabs cracked. I used this sealant to fix those cracks. It's remained in place through two Pacific Northwest (wet) winters. It's remained flexible, keeping slab pieces together with no slippage. Good product!

**Q: Can I throw some sand on top of horizontal morter cracks after applying the Sikaflex to give it texture?**
A: I think you can. Think of it as a kind of epoxy. If you throw some sand on its surface before it dries, the sand will end up imbedded in it.

Great stuff seals well

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This stuff is great.
*by J***M on March 30, 2026*

This sealant goes on smoothly, seals tightly and is very white. It is tooled easily and seals great. Most of the tubes I used did not have air pockets that caused them to ooze after trigger release. The surface skins over but it feels very rubbery. It sticks to my white plastic windows very nicely. Much better than the acrylic caulks I used prior to finding this caulk.
