No limit on how often. **Q: Does this product reduce string noise and how does it compare to using coated strings (e.g. Elixir)?** A: It keeps the strings clean, and lubricated. When used on the fingers, it helps keep the calluses softer and allows fingers to slide over the frets more easily. It does reduce the string squeak some as well, although technique helps too. **Q: How can i remove it? This made my string noise worse.** A: My guess is that this product removed all of the crud from your strings, virtually making them a bit more coarse. Removal of the product is probably not the problem. You probably need to put the oil, dirt and dust back on your strings and fill all of those winding gaps back up again. Once again, this is only a guess. **Q: Is this for nylon?** A: You should be able to use it on nylon strings.
