I went with a 313 (which I ought via desertcart) My boards were about 4" wide and this tip gives about a 6" wide spray. very easy to set up, I had it up and running ina few minutes thanks to watching a few videos on Youtube. We finished the fence in 6 hours.....as since it was a stain, stil lhad to back-brush, but was super easy to do and where it excelled was being able to get the paint on the inner/edges. Super quick. I have a Graco X7 Magnum Pro and my max tip size is .017. This is found in the last two numbers of the number on the tip. So a tip marked 517 would mean that the spray tip orifice is .017. The “5” is half the width of the spray fan pattern. So the 517 tip would spray a pattern that is 10 inches wide (5 x 2) and would spray a paint that requires an .017 orifice which is a very thick paint. The orifice size requirement can be found in the paint specifications. This unit comes with a 515 tip, and I could not find the max tip size but I suspect this is it — .015 — which is a big orifice and can handle almost all latex or oil based paints but I would not use oil base in a sprayer because of clean up. Much easier to run water through it for clean up than mineral spirits. I am currently painting my deck and I’m using Sherwin-Williams Super Deck product which is thicker than normal paint, and I’m using a .015 spray tip. I’m using a 315 on the railings to limit overspray and conserve paint. The 315 will give me a 6” spray pattern and the .015 is within the manufactures specifications for this product. I could have used a .017 but it would have put out a lot more paint and made it a little more difficult to control overspray and conserve paint. I hope that helps. This is a great sprayer at a very good price, but follow the directions and make sure you clean it properly and use pump armor when stored. **Q: If using outside, what sort of over spray does this create? I live on a busy street and don't want to end up getting cars parked nearby with overspray** A: I've been a painter for over 20 yrs and used many sprayers, any paint atomized to spray will float 200 ft and stick to a car with very little breeze. Buy .01 mil plastic and cover any cars within 200 ft in the direction of any breeze, it the wind is blowing towards your back yard, paint quick before it changes direction. usually spray will settle within a 10 to 20 ft area from an outside wall with the most paint being in a 3 ft area below the wall. Plastic is cheaper than painting a nice car for someone else !!! **Q: Is this electric or run by air?** A: Electric sprayer. But it is airless, you just plug it in to a 110 outlet...put the suction hose in a 5 gallon bucket of paint...and paint away! **Q: Can i paint kitchen cabinets with this paint sprayer** A: All comes down to the paint and correct tip. Very impressed with the Graco Magnum 257025 Project Painter Plus and ye sit worked super with the Flood CWf UV Clear paint ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ease of use and cleaning *by T***3 on June 18, 2022* I bought this last November so I could apply a stain to the new fence on our property that was destroyed in a wind storm. But, the wind and rain kept us from doing so until these past two weeks. In total we have painted 620 linear feet of 6' high fence made up of drill pipe, 2x4s and 1x6" 6' tall. That's a lot of fence to be painting. We still have another 300 feet to go. Our neighbor finally decided to fix the adjoining fence so now we have more to do. This Graco Magnum made the job easy and quick compared to rolling. we put our little generator in the back of our work trailer and pulled it with the lawn tractor to the back fence. Worked beautifully. Priming was extremely easy. Painting was a delight, if it can be. Using the supplied tip of 512, it was a very nice wide pattern and covered a lot of fence. Took a bit to figure out how far back I needed to be to keep from causing runs, drips and errors. At first I was about to eclipse Pete Rose's record of runs, Hits, and errors. LOL. Then I learned that about 12"-15" works best in light winds of 5-8mph. Any higher its best to wait till there's low winds. But clean up, now that was easy. Prime it with some mineral sprits, Then with the small buck full of MS, start spraying into an empty bucket till the nozzle sprays clear. Disassemble the intake screen and wash off in the MS and blow it off. Then take the nozzle apart and clean it. With the nozzle and screen clean I just put them in the slots in the feet of the sprayer for safe keeping. So was it worth the investment? Well, ask me that question after I paint the fences again next year. Im sure Ill be smiling just as much. I won't be conning anyone to do the painting like Tom Sawyer did. But right now I'd say that this spray is worth every single penny.
