It obviously does make the laptop a little heavier and thicker, but it also offers protection. So for me, I was willing to trade-off that for protection since I bring my laptop around with me out and about.I used to get Speck cases for my macbook pros, but the clips always seemed to break off too easily. From the construction of this one, I can tell that the clips are sturdier and more strategically placed. The top piece fit just fine, but the bottom piece was a little too small and wouldn't snap on all the way, making it difficult to open my laptop more than 90 degrees, even though I confirmed that it should fit my laptop model number. I ended up just replacing the bottom piece with a case cover that I already had. One other note: the top piece does not fit completely flush to the laptop.
