I have not used other >$400 units before so I cannot compare it to others in this price range. What I can say is that this unit has been great do far. The calibration solutions worked well and this unit has held it's calibration for over a year (i.e., it hasn't changed much when I recalibrate it. Everything about it screams "I work" as opposed to pH pens, which are my only other point of reference, and scream "I'm not a good product."
