It was just deep enough to hold the puree, but not too deep that it was hard to get the food into her mouth. It was just the right size for her mouth, so it wasn't a stretch to get it in. You can bend the head of the spoon to make it easier to get to your baby, and it was the right size for her hand if she wanted to try using it herself. We haven't had a reason to try out the fork yet, but I'm sure we will make use of it when we are ready to teach her how to use utensils on her own. They turned out to be great for my 15 month old. He got so excited when he fed himself fruit with the fork. I highly recommend this product to the Moms who wish to train their toddlers. My son had a sense of achievement and I was thrilled to see that.Someone had mentioned in their review that the surface area of the spoon is small. I agree but you cannot have a small child have too much on his/her spoon when self feeding... It would be all over the place.The best part about the product is the way they bend on either side. However, my son has a hard time eating with them. the spoon is deep and not wide so he has a hard time getting the food out of it, and the fork...doesn't really pick up anything. I wouldn't even call it a fork, it certainly doesnt work like one. I bought the sassy angled spoons and they work better for us.
