These thermals are fantastic and if you're a previous owner of the square pattern type thermals then you MUST upgrade. It' been quite a few years since I invested in thermal wear and then it was sport specific for mountain bike racing. I'm talking $300 a pop per garment. I'm out of that game and hope never to spend a fortune again for that heat thermal clothing. Back to the thick of the conversation which was the review. How do they size? They come true to fit. They are skin tight which is what you want. If you are complaining because they don't fit loose like your normal clothes ask one of your cool friends in the know. I will say the one thing that I noticed is that I can pull the shirt all the way down to the top of my quads, but after a few 30 minutes or so the shirt has managed to ride up to above my abdomen. Not a deal breaker. I believe proper thermal wear etiquette requires you to tuck the shirt inside the waistband of the johns. Another plus is the micro-fleece layer inside thermals, man the microfleece is absolute heaven against your skin. For the micro-fleece feeling alone I will buy 10 more - so I don't have to do laundry. As far as temperature retention, It was 35F the other day and I spent the whole day outside with minimal layers - I wanted to test the low temperature rating on the coldest day so far - and I can attest to Thermajohn's ability to keep me toasty.
