## Description

Product Description desertcart Basics 10-Port USB 3.0 Charging Hub Docking Station From the Manufacturer desertcart Basics

Review: Very nice hub, no question. 10 months continuous use: No problems! - Seems like just the thing. This is the 10-port hub I've been using now for a few weeks, and have had no issues. I can't comment on transfer rates and so on because my PC is itself so old and ready for replacement--I also use a MacBook Air, but without a hub. However, the hub supports a host of external devices, including two printers and a dedicated scanner. It also permits rapid charging of phones etc. I even use a wired gaming mouse because I prefer its responsiveness (the damned thing was expensive, but worth it), and everything works as desired. Right now the 3.0 feature is meaningless for me, again because of the antique computer, but I bought into that feature for future upgrades. Update: Having no problems at all with this more than a month later. Seems very reliable. Transfer speeds from external HD to external HD are very quick. Very nice not having to "bake cookies" while I wait for 20gb data to transfer. UPDATE #2: 10 months out, continuous daily use with my MacBook Air, and not single problem or hitch. Works flawlessly. Based on my experience, I recommend this hub for any user in this application. UPDATE #3: I have the desertcart Basics 10-port USB hub. This has worked very well for me EXCEPT when I attempted to extend its rather short cable with an desertcart Basics 3.0 6’ USB extension cable. With an external hard drive attached to the hub, populating large photo folders became noticeably slower. Then today the hard drive wasn’t being recognized. I ran several switchout tests, and it does seem that the cable is the issue. The hub still works great if directly connected to my computer (MacBook Pro), but slows down, then fails to recognize external devices.
Review: Picky on USB3 port. Not so on USB2 EDIT: 5 star now [SOLUTION ADDED] - It is acting strange. I like the design and such. This is what I am experiencing so far. I will update my review if/when I figure things out. Connects and installs fine plugged to USB3 port. Problem is some devices work and other don't. A simple 16GB flash drive for instance. The drive works fine when plugged directly into the PCs 2.0 and 3.0 ports. It also works fine when plugged into another 2.0 hub. It will not work with this desertcart hub when the hub is plugged into the USB3 port, but again works fine when the hub is on a 2.0 port. I have several devices exhibiting this behavior (another flash drive, my Corsair mouse, higher end USB condenser mic so far). The hub is on a 2.0 port, everything works fine....3.0 port some devices do not work....all these devices work fine on either port when plugged directly. Yes, I have tried many combinations of ports for everything. Very odd. I will currently just stick to USB2 for now as I do not particularly require the added bandwidth for now but it is frustrating. I will do some more research and update my review if I figure anything out. UPDATE: 6/14/14 I have an Etron EJ168A USB 3.0 on my ASRock Motherboard. I tried updating the USB Host Controller from ASRock website, no change. The Etron website has a newer driver, updated and again no change. Changing (Disabling) USB power settings seems to have fixed my issues. In advanced power settings there is a "USB selective suspend setting". If you are having issues with this HUB on USB3 try disabling that setting. Once I did it immediately recognized the flash drive that was not previously recognized. Getting solid 125MB/sec transfer rate to it as well. I have updated my rating as well.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is the power adapter for this hub dual-voltage? (110-240 V?)**
A: i bought 3 of this. input 110-240v 50-60hz 1.5a,output 19v 3.16a. the hub turns 19v to 5v inside itself.

**Q: What are the amp ratings of the 10-port models (USB2/3)? Are there per-port amp limits on any of the models? (Amazon: add this to comparison table)**
A: All of the ports on the 10 port HUB I received only output 400 ma. None are high speed. I tested the ports with an external USB meter and an app on the phone and tablet. Both devices have proven to pull over an amp on external chargers. None of the ports on the 10 port hub output any more than any other USB ports on the hub or anywhere else on the computer.

**Q: Why won't my iPad charge?**
A: If mine had worked I could have told you. Mine was DOA. But you are going to have a hard time getting any USB Hub to charge a iPad. iPad charges at 10A or higher.

**Q: Is the supplied AC Power Adapter suitable for 220/240V AC input power source?**
A: I do not know about the 10 port, I have a 4 port. the AC input for my adapter says "100-240V". Output is 5vdc @ 2.5amps. To use this at 240v you would need an adapter to convert the 120v blade connector to the 240v configuration. (with that stipulation it should work) Yep! Get it at Amazon!!!

### ⭐ Something odd going on
*by L***B on June 14, 2014*

Got this for an ASUS UX301 laptop (also purchased from Amazon) since the Green ITC LAVA ECO27QDP LED 27" Matte Screen A-MVA Panel 2560x1440 WQHD (also purchased from Amazon) doesn't have a built-in USB hub. This hub works fine, the monitor works fine (using a DisplayPort to mini-DisplayPort cable, also purchased from Amazon), but the monitor won't work when this hub is plugged into the laptop. This problem is perfectly reproducible with this setup. Putting other USB devices in the same port on the laptop doesn't cause this problem. This hub drawing too much power? Laptop USB not up to spec? Solving this would require test equipment I don't have. Update: finally took a dump after limping it along by unpowering it up and down and re-plugging things in again. This thing has been behind a UPS and power surge protection its entire life, as has everything plugged into it.
