## Overview

Pure Indian Foods Grassfed Organic Ghee is a 15 oz jar of premium, USDA certified organic ghee made from 100% grassfed, non-homogenized cow's milk. ## Description

Our grass fed organic ghee starts by making butter from grass fed cow's milk. We then render the butter into ghee. We don't add salt, preservatives, trans fats, dyes, colors, or anything else to our ghee. The only ingredient in our ghee is non-homogenized milk.
Grass fed organic ghee offers all the wonderful flavors of butter, but with the shelf life of cooking oils. Ghee is gluten-free and provides healthy fats, a variety of practical cooking applications, and the buttery taste you love on your favorite foods. Ghee is highly potent so a little bit goes a long way, making it last longer than an equivalent quantity of butter. Bake, fry, saute, and change your diet for the better today with the best organic Indian ghee from Pure Indian Foods!
Ghee is the perfect cooking fat to use anywhere you would use butter or oil. It is shelf-stable and excellent for sauteing, stir fries, baking, and other high heat applications.
Grass-fed & USDA Certified Organic - Made in USA.
Gourmet quality - made using grass-fed cow's milk produced from spring thru fall only. However, as with any natural product, the color and texture may vary.
Made from non-homogenized Milk.
Made by a fifth-generation, family-owned ghee business...since 1889.
Packed in glass jars.
Benefits many diets: Paleo, Gluten-Free, Ayurveda, Whole30, FODMAP
Ghee is primarily used as a cooking fat, or on top of warm foods and drinks. So no matter what the texture is, it melts into clear golden liquid in few seconds when heated. We can't promise a particular texture once the jar arrives. To do so, we would have to over-process the product and add fillers/stabilizers etc. and we can't, as we want to keep the product absolutely clean and all of our ghee is made traditionally, just as it has been for thousands of years in India.
Ghee is prepared by melting and simmering butter until all the water evaporates and the milk solids settle at the bottom. The remaining butter oil is very stable, giving it a high smoke point which makes it an excellent choice to use for frying and sautéing and it can be stored without refrigeration for up to a year.
Many people can’t tolerate dairy, but they are able to consume ghee. Casein and lactose are removed during the making of ghee. Unless a person is very sensitive, consuming ghee is safe for those with dairy issues, unlike butter.
Grass-fed cows produce milk that is high in naturally occurring Vitamins A, D & K, as well as conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), an antioxidant and essential fatty acid. In addition, grassfed ghee contains a balanced ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fats. (This ratio is around 3:1 for grass-fed animals compared to over 20:1 for grain-fed animals!)
Conversely, grain-fed cows produce unhealthy fats you wouldn’t want in your body. Most cows are corn or soy fed. It’s cheap and filling, but indigestible for cows.
Pure Indian Foods was the first ghee company to become Whole30(R) Approved back in 2011. Pure Indian Foods carries certified organic ghees, spices, and cold-pressed oils that are all Whole30(R) Approved.
Grass Fed Organic Ghee made from cultured butter. Batch-tested Gluten-Free. It is also batch-tested to contain no more than 0.25% lactose and 2.5 ppm casein/whey.
A perfect blend of Grass Fed Organic Cultured Ghee and MCT oil. The best butter coffee for a paleo dairy-free creamer.
A unique, fat-soluble turmeric preparation with the synergy of ginger and black pepper--- all in Grass Fed Organic Cultured Ghee.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are the cows 100% grass fed? Or are they finished on grain?**
A: Thanks for your interest in our Grassfed Organic Ghee. We work with small family farmers who raise pastured cows, but they find it unsustainable for their milking cows to survive strictly on grass all year long, especially during winter. Even though we don't use the milk produced in winter, we still don't claim 100% grassfed.

**Q: Is this casein free?**
A: Thanks for your interested. We don't test this ghee products for casein. We make another product called Cultured Ghee, which is batch-tested for casein/whey, lactose, and gluten. Please check out these links for the details: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A61R3MK and https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009Q6MLCE

**Q: I ordered this ghee a few days back. This ghee stays in liquid form even in this cold weather. How is this possible. Is it really cow's ghee.**
A: Thanks for the purchase. It is 100% pure cow ghee. Please check out the video posted on www.amazon.com/pureindianfoods to learn more about the texture issue.

**Q: Is it suppose to be runny? First time to order this brand**
A: If it just came out of your mailbox, it could be runny because it hasn't solidified. When I ordered mine in the summer, it literally looked like drawn butter in a jar. With time in the house or even in the fridge, it should definitely harden. If you leave it in your pantry or just unrefridgerated, it may stay pretty soft and/or runny. Hope that helps!

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Delicious Ghee
*by on Reviewed in the United States June 6, 2016*

I have been using Ghee ever since I was child, my mom used to make Ghee at home back in India and taste used to be delicious and smelled craving. I have tasted several imported brands in US coming from India & Europe but never tasted or smelled the same, ultimately lost the interest. We have been buying the Ghee for my child frequently and getting from India when ever possible. We first got introduced to Grass-fed Organic Ghee few week ago and our whole family got in love with it immediately as it tasted the same as my childhood ghee. It has great quality, taste and deliciousness. I would strongly recommend.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great flavor!
*by on Reviewed in the United States April 14, 2016*

I think this ghee is delicious. I usually buy organic Purity Farms at our local supermarket, but I needed an "add-on" for my cart and I also happened to be almost out of ghee at home. I'm thrilled that it is made from grass-fed cows.I opened the new one when it arrived and compared it with Purity Farms. They both taste like ghee. This jar had melted somewhere along its journey, and solidified while lying down. The plastic is a #1 - generally considered safe - although I do not heat or cook using plastic. It doesn't sit well with me that the ghee heated in the plastic while in transit, but I will eat it anyway.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ghee is tasty, shelf stable, and good for you
*by on Reviewed in the United States February 10, 2016*

I first tried the Pure cultured ghee, then this non-cultured to compare the two. I LOVE both types, but have a slight preference for the bit tangier cultured ghee, BUT the cultured it is also more expensive. The regular ghee is good, but I dislike the plastic jar - would prefer glass that the cultured comes in. Both types of ghee are good for you - from grass fed cows so includes essential Vitamin K2 which is vital for us, but we now lack due to changes in feeding styles (indoor and grain fed) of modern livestock/poultry in much of the world. Whichever brand of ghee you try, make sure it guarantees milk from strictly grass fed cows. Pure brand assures a grass fed product. Since ghee is just the fat gleaned from butter, it is shelf stable for a short period of time and can also change in texture depending on the temperature of your environment (but this doesn't change the flavor). Ghee is amazing to cook with if you can afford it. I prefer to cook with coconut oil, olive oil (low heat only) or butter, and use ghee as a flavoring to use like butter on any food.
