As the front and back discs are rotated, the jaws move in and out automatically centering your project on the chuck. CNC cut phenolic material and precision hardware ensure years of performance. Woodline USA’s Longworth chucks are designed to be used with a standard self centering lathe chuck (not included). It can be quickly removed from the lathe without removing the existing chuck or having to change hardware. Projects can be grabbed from the inside or the outside. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the minimum exterior size this would hold? I've seen on other listings it was 2-3/4. I'd like to finish the inside of wooden bracelets.**
A: The minimum exterior as shown in the photo at the left is approximately 4-1/2". The through bolts will ultimately contact the 4 jaw chuck if you close it down far enough. It then becomes impossible to tighten the bumpers.Ron

**Q: how is it mounted on the lathe,by chuck or screwed on?**
A: The longworth chuck I have (I bought from CraftSupplies via Amazon) mounts to a standard 4 jaw self-centering scrolling chuck such as the Barracuda. The 4 jaw chuck is, in turn, screwed onto the lathe. YouTube has a good video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEJfrO9CJBU) on the longworth chuck.

**Q: What is the smallest bowl it will work with?**
A: The short answer is around 4-1/2" in diameter. I say that because the bolts protrude out the back so depending on you chuck body and the profile of the jaws it could go larger or smaller. I designed it's capacity to take over where your regular scroll chuck stops.Ron Brown, Designer

**Q: My lathe is a 12 inch swing. Will this fit or be too big, wasn't sure what actual dimensions this has?.**
A: The 12 inch longworth chuck is smaller than the swing on your lathe so it should work fine.I have a Jet 12 inch lathe and it works swell.
