But I knew that what I was using was junk anyway, so I decided to try the Furmans and find out for myself. Well then. The improvement in audio quality after swapping in the Furman's was just undeniable, so much so that it gave me an audiophile "wow, I like THAT" sensation immediately. Movies, dialog and music suddenly had more clarity, depth, dynamics, detail and punch. It's like a light veil had been lifted off of the speakers and the sound became more alive and "honest". Are there better power conditioners out there? I have no doubts that there are, but to get this level of improvement in audio quality for only $25, the Furman is an easy 5-stars for me. Some reviewers have mentioned that this isn't a power conditioner; but it says right on the box that it does feature basic level active noise cancellation/reduction. I didn't buy them because I had a noise issue though, I bought this because it was recommended in the audiophile community for those who wanted a quality power conditioner but didn't have the budget for something more expensive. If you are already using a good quality power strip or conditioner, I'm assuming that you would not notice much of a difference, if any. However, if you were like me and was using garbage power strips, you might enjoy what you hear after plugging everything into the Furman's. Only complaint? Like others mentioned, 15ft of cord seems to be a little long considering the size of the conditioner itself. The extra-long length is awesome if you need it, but if you don't want the extra bulk, this is something to consider. Not used to buying something without a Joules rating. Help! Need for my whole TV setup.** A: It is a surge protector but not a good one for sensitive computer type equipment. 540 joules basically protects life. You would need a protector over 2000 joules for things like computers, electronic equipment, basically most sensitive electronics with a circuit board. The real benefit of this device is weeding out EMI and RMI, but in all honesty you probably don’t need it unless you are in a place that is poorly wired. There is a better chance you’ll get interference over the air. Many that purchase items like these have a false sense of security. **Q: What are it's electronic specs (i.e. clamping voltage, energy dissipation, and response time)? I'm looking for something for musical equipment** A: Clamping Voltage = 400V. Surge Rating = 540 joules. Response Time = n/a. (Strangely, the response time is not available on the product website. I don't know if it means that it's a problem.) I would look elsewhere. There are a lot of other surge protectors that sell for less and provide better protection. It has a normal clamping voltage but its surge rating is low. So, it's going to stop working much earlier than other surge protectors. And, it's not like this really smooths out the line noise as it filters out only 20db (which is much lower than other devices). Frankly, I don't know why people would buy this, especially at this price ($30) and why it has a high rating. I guess the unit looks sturdy and looks like a heavy duty piece of equipment but it really isn't. The company is tricking you. **Q: what is the let through rating on this surge protector?** A: Electrical Rating: 15A, 1800 Watt; Voltage protection rating L-N 400V, L-G 400V, N-G 400V. Type 3 SPD.
