## Description

From the manufacturer

Review: Tis a beast, get ready - So this guy is the top of the line for AM4 and, aside from the 5800X3D, which some suggest is a better pick for gaming due to the 3d cache, is not without its downfalls. A couple of Friendly Warnings. Being the top end, it is power hungry, and not all boards will allow you to use that power, so do your research. My board when I bought this was capable of running it, but the moment it tried to boost, it would pop the overvolt protection and crash the machine. A bios update fixed this for me and has been much more stable since. It is hot. All that sparky juice needs to go somewhere and the 5950X does a fantastic job of turning electricity into heat. Good ventilation will adequately protect you from overheating by simply opening a browser, but you may still experience thermal throttling. I do not water cool, so no idea what mileage you would get from that. Now for the good stuff. After that initial BIOS update, this is solid. I was replacing a 1800X and noticed an immediate improvement. Single core boosting is amazing frequently hitting 4.9Ghz the moment they are asked to do anything, and sometimes tasks have completed before associated progress bars have even started. Multi core boosting is also excellent as long as you do not hit thermal or power throttling, and running all cores 100% may drop you to around 2.7GHz per core, which with 16 of these guys is still pretty awesome. Right now I have 8 cores running between 3.9 and 4.9Ghz with the rest idling at the stock 3.6. My only issue so far has been overheading on my Mobo chipset because this CPU is pushing the rest of my system, especially those PCIe lanes. Also this only started happening when I accidentally blocked the lower front intake. So, if you are on a budget and do not want to put down AM5 money, or already on AM4 and just want to get the most out of your machine, this is a good buy, however the 5800X3D is probably the better option for gaming. But, if you can, I would suggest throwing a bit more cash towards going AM5, you can get a 7700X for around the same price, but your RAM and board is likely to hike the price up a bit.
Review: Great addition but... - And now for the BUT... so, I got this cpu as an upgrade to my Ryzen 5 3600 as I'm limited to AM4 sockets. Once it was plugged in, it didn't work. I later found out after messing about for 15 hours or so after mixing old cpu with new gpu and new cup with old gpu that it was actually a software issue. I needed to update the BIOS to a later edition (I was on bios 1407) once I downloaded the new BIOS (bios 5013) via Asus AI Suite 3, I plugged the new cpu in and fired the system up at which point it worked. I then defaulted the settings and then started it as normal. I then noticed the cpu was running a little hot on idle, 60c, again after using Asus AI Suite 3, I ran a volt check and it optimised the volt settings and it instantly dropped to a more respectable 35c and even under load it only went to 45c. In short, my take away advice to others looking at this cpu is make sure your system before you unplug the old cpu is running on the latest BIOS, reset your CMOS via battery or push button (MB depending) and run a volt check once installed to make sure it's all optimised. Other than that I think the cpu is great and one hell of an upgrade to my old one. Happy hunting.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I tried water cooling but when i poured water on my pc it doesnt turn on. is this not compatible with water cooling? i also submerged the entire pc.**
A: The suggestion below of using VOS water from a Glass bottle just won't help. Don't get me wrong it is an ultra classy way to water cool but it won't help your framerates... What you need is to Jetwash the CPU, just go to town and fire the water everywhere. The CPU will be so intimidated by your water cooling prowess that it will run Doom Eternal 4K Ultra Nightmare at 1000FPS with no GPU installed. Intimidation is the key!

**Q: I paid £540 for my 5900X. This scalper price of £800 is insane and these practices should be made illegal.**
A: Current price is £382 as of 25th July 2021. So it’s halved in price in 6 months on Amazon. Great value now.

**Q: Is this a scam? Why the £200.54 delivery fee?**
A: Check who is selling it - there’s many scalpers selling for £200+ over RRP

**Q: Does this processor come with the code for far cry 6 in the box or is it sent out by amazon, how would i go about getting the code?**
A: Yes, you'll get an email from amazon shortly after you buy the CPU. Then you must run an AMD system check to confirm you have installed the CPU and the game is yours....at least it will be when it releases in 2021.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Super power your PC at a cheap price.
*by G***. on 30 May 2023*

I had read the reviews from the manufacturer and the supplier regarding this processor. They all said as ro how good it was. The majority of purchaser reviews was from gamers. Stating how good it made games to play. I needed it for programs that I needed to run. Well I have to admit, the reviews and what the manufacturer had yo say about the processor were all true and it is a brilliant unit. I can't believe ad to how much it has sped up my pc. I will hold hand up and say that I understand all of the tech jargon associated with this unit. I picked it on what was said in lay man's English, which made me choose the unit. I did watch several videos on it's performance and what it can do. I was completely sold on the unit upon watching the videos. I can now run my programs that made my pc slow right down or cause a severe lag. Running these are now at total breeze. It's performance is exceptional. I recently update a lit of components on my pc. I am so glad that I did. Buying this processor has been one of my best ever buys. If you are caught in 2 minds as to whether to buy it, then I would take the chance, you won't regret it. The only thing I can say that other buyers need to be aware of is that this does run quite hot. I would look into which type of cooler is the heat to run with it. There are double fans with a cooling radiator in between them or there are water pumped coolers. Read into which you would prefer to use. If you have a midi case like I have then the double fan will not fit as there is not enough room. It will fit but with only one fan attached to its heat sink. I would not hesitate in recommending this processor
